Weihai Vocational College is a full-time public higher vocational college, which was established by the merger of the former Weihai Radio and Television college, Weihai College of Education and Weihai Industrial college. It was approved by Shandong Provincial People's Government and put on record by the Ministry of Education in October 2000. In May 2004, it merged with Weihai Institute of Technology and implemented one institute with two brands. The college is one of the first batch of 28 "National model Higher vocational Colleges" and a national demonstration base for training highly skilled personnel. In July 2019, it was recognized as a high-quality higher vocational college by the Ministry of Education, and in December, it was announced by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance as the construction unit of high-level higher vocational college and major construction plan with Chinese characteristics.
