Yibin University is located in Yibin, Sichuan Province, "the First City on the Yangtze River" and a national historical and cultural city. The university began its higher education history in 1978. In 2001, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the former Yibin Teachers College merged with Yibin Branch of Sichuan Education University and was upgraded to a provincial full-time comprehensive undergraduate college.
