Liuzhou Polytechnic University (LZPU) is a public undergraduate vocational university approved by the Ministry of Education, established in 2024 based on Liuzhou Vocational & Technical College (LVTC). It is recognized as one of the 100 National Exemplary Vocational Institutions in China, one of the 200 national high-quality Institutions, and is enlisted in the “National Top-Notch Vocational Institutions and Programs Plan.” LZPU is located in Liuzhou, an important industrial city in Guangxi, known as “the scenic city with the strongest industry and the industrial city with the most beautiful scenery.”

LZPU boasts a long history and a strong educational foundation. LZPU has evolved through two mergers involving eight institutions, including Guangxi Staff and Workers College of Metallurgical Industry and Liuzhou Industrial Staff and Workers College. After several generations of hard work and dedication, LZPU has now achieved significant recognition. It is ranked among the National Top 50 Vocational Institutions in Teaching Management, the National Top 50 Vocational Institutions in Student Management, and the National Top 50 Vocational Institutions in Teaching Resources. Additionally, LZPU is honored as one of the Top 50 Institutions in China for Industry-Education Integration by the Capek Prize. LZPU has garnered numerous prestigious awards. Among these accolades are the titles of National Exemplary Unit in Vocational Education, National Exemplary Collective in the Education System, Recipient of the Excellent Institution Award at the 7th Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Awards, National Exemplary Unit of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education among Higher Vocational Institutions, and National Exemplary Unit of Skill Assessment for Young Workers (the only skills appraisal center among Institutions in Guangxi). LZPU has been included in the First Group of Exemplary Units of Conservation-oriented Public Institutions in China and the First Group of Excellent Pilot Institutions for Educational Informatization in China. In 2023, LZPU was awarded the title of “Exemplary Institution in Government Procurement”. Through its signature “Ingenious LZPU” brand project, LZPU has been recognized as a model of campus culture under the "one institution, one brand" initiative for China's TVET Institutions.

LZPU boasts prominent geographical advantages and unique education characteristics. LZPU is located in Liuzhou, a pivotal industrial city in southwest China, which is not only the closest industrial hub to ASEAN but also one of China's five major automobile centers and the heart of “Guangxi Manufacturing”. LZPU has two campuses: Shewan and Guantang, covering an area of over 127 hectares. Positioned in Liuzhou to serve Guangxi, ASEAN, and countries along the Belt and Road, LZPU is actively contributing to initiatives such as “Building China into a Manufacturing Powerhouse”, “Strengthening Guangxi's Industrial Sector”, and the development of “Liuzhou Modern Manufacturing City”. Over the past five years, the in-service lecturers have collectively won a total of 23 national talent awards or honors. These include 1 first prize and 3 second and third prizes in the Teaching Ability Competition of the National Vocational College Skills Competition.

LZPU has comprehensively deepens the reform of education and teaching, empowering high-quality development. LZPU has established 12 major groups encompassing 49 majors across 10 faculties. These faculties include the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the Faculty of Automotive Engineering, the Faculty of Electronic Information Engineering, the Faculty of Environment and Food Engineering, the Faculty of Finance and Logistics Management, the Faculty of Trade and Tourism Management, the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of General Education, the Faculty of Marxism, and the Faculty of International Education. Currently, LZPU boasts 1 high-level major group under the “National Top-Notch Vocational Institutions and Programs Plan”and 14 national key majors. These include 6 national exemplary key majors, 6 national backbone majors, 2 national industry-education integration majors, 1 equipment manufacturing exemplary major in national vocational Institutions, 1 national educational reform pilot major, 2 majors involving the projects supported by the central government to enhance the development capacity of professional service industries in higher vocational Institutions, and 4 majors involving the Sino-German Vocational Education Program in Automotive Electromechanics initiated by the Ministry of Education. LZPU has undertaken 24 pilot projects for the "1+X" certificate system, established 6 national quality courses, 5 national quality resource-sharing courses, and 3 national online quality courses for vocational education. LZPU has 17 types of national planning textbooks, and has participated in the construction of 6 national professional teaching resource databases. Moreover, LZPU has won 1 first prize (the only one in Guangxi) of the First National Textbook Construction Award, 7 second prizes of the National Teaching Achievement Award, and 4 special awards of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. In terms of landmark achievements, LZPU ranks among the top higher vocational Institutions in China.

LZPU emphasizes the cultivation of practical abilities of applied talents and is committed to the cooperative education between the university and enterprises. In line with the "eight-in-one" principle, which integrates production workshops and classrooms, students and apprentices, teachers and masters, teaching contents and work tasks, practical training equipment and facilities and production equipment and facilities, coursework and products, teaching and scientific research, and education and income generation, LZPU, in collaboration with enterprises, has established 20 industry-education integration practice platforms and 38 on-campus professional training bases, including 15 Production-Oriented Practical Training Base and 175 stable internship bases. LZPU has accomplished 12 national-level achievements in the construction of training facilities and built 25 Provincial Accredited training bases.

LZPU actively serves local economic development and has consistently improved its scientific and research capabilities. Adhering to the principles of being locally rooted, integrated, and service-oriented, exploring effective linkage mechanisms among industrial chains, innovation chains, and educational chains, LZPU designs majors centered on Liuzhou's pillar industries and plans for the development of professional clusters. LZPU has established 7 Industry-Integrated Institutes, including Institute of Intelligent Manufacturing Industry, Institute of Intelligent Connected Vehicles and School of Luosifen Industry, and etc. LZPU has led the way in establishing the Guangxi Automobile Industry Vocational Education Group and the Guangxi Agile Manufacturing Vocational Education Group. Notably, the Guangxi Automobile Industry Vocational Education Group has been recognized as a "National Exemplary Vocational Education Group". Additionally, LZPU has partnered with Liudong New District to establish a collaborative innovation research institute. This collaboration has resulted in the introduction and incubation of 18 innovation and entrepreneurship teams, the creation of one national collaborative innovation center, and the establishment of one national intellectual property information public service outlet. Furthermore, LZPU has set up one technology transfer Exemplary institution at the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region level, one social science popularization base in Guangxi, and eight engineering technology research centers in Liuzhou. Moreover, LZPU has set up a high-level R&D team characterized by academician guidance, doctoral leadership, and technical expert support. This team aims to carry out technology research and development, transfer and transformation of technological achievements, and training of technical personnel in areas such as metal 3D printing, laser processing and high-performance light alloy materials. LZPU has participated in the drafting of 1 national technical standard, and 15 local standards and group standards. Moreover, LZPU has obtained 618 patent authorizations and successfully transformed 45 patents, establishing itself as an indispensable technological innovation partner for enterprises.

LZPU is actively contributing to the "Belt and Road" Initiative, aiming to establish platforms for international cooperation and exchange. According to the principle of "introduction, internalization, implementation, and sharing" of standards, LZPU has developed an international education model that emphasizes "four-party collaboration" among government, university, industries, and enterprises, and combines education and training, to support enterprises' global development. As leading enterprises in Liuzhou's pillar industries expand globally, LZPU has partnered with local leading enterprises such as LiuGong and SAIC-GM-Wuling to establish an international development community aimed at cultivating international talents. Together, they have established 16 International Craftsman Institutions in collaboration with these enterprises, disseminating 61 standards and 20 teaching materials worldwide. LZPU has developed a unique solution for the opening-up of vocational education, emphasizing the integrated development of education and industry and industry-education collaboration.

LZPU has achieved remarkable results in education and has earned an excellent social reputation. LZPU has been recognized as the "Outstanding Institution for the Employment and Entrepreneurship of College Graduates in Guangxi" for 23 consecutive years, delivering a significant number of high-quality technical and skilled talents to support the high-quality development of the local economy. Over the past three years, LZPU students have achieved remarkable success, including winning one gold medal at the World Vocational College Skills Competition (the only one in Guangxi), two first prizes at the National Vocational College Skills Competition, and two gold medals and four silver medals at the China International College Students' 'Internet+' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. Overall, LZPU students have earned a total of 271 awards in various national skills competitions. Among the outstanding graduates of LZPU, six have been awarded the National May 1 Labor Medal and the title of "National Women Pacesetter", four have been recognized as "National Skill Master (Studio)", and 11 have won the May 1 Labor Medal of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. They have contributed their expertise across various industries globally, earning a good reputation for LZPU.
