Zhengzhou University of Economics and Trade was formerly known as the Information Business College of Zhongyuan University of Technology, established in April 2003. It was transformed into Zhengzhou University of Economics and Trade on June 30, 2020. It is an independently established private regular institution of higher learning at the undergraduate level, under the supervision of the Department of Education of Henan Province.
The current disciplines of the school cover six major categories including management, economics, engineering, art, literature and law. There are 51 undergraduate programs and 32 junior college programs at present. It has gradually formed a professional group with economic and management as the main body. The development pattern of advantageous disciplines and professional clusters (groups) with "one body and two wings" as the two wings, namely the professional clusters of smart manufacturing and computer and artificial intelligence, and the professional clusters of art design and media. At present, there are 5 key construction disciplines in Henan Province, 6 provincial first-class undergraduate programs, 11 provincial private college discipline and major construction funding projects, 9 provincial private college brand programs, 4 provincial comprehensive reform pilot programs, 2 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 3 provincial virtual simulation experimental teaching projects, 15 provincial first-class undergraduate courses, and 1 provincial excellent resource sharing course. There are 3 outstanding ideological and political theory courses in provincial colleges and universities, 9 excellent online open courses in provincial higher education institutions, 5 provincial model courses for ideological and political education in courses, and 6 outstanding grassroots teaching organizations in provincial higher education institutions.
The school is based in Zhengzhou, oriented towards Henan Province, radiates throughout the country, and serves the regional economic and social development.
