Zhengzhou Electric Power College is a school with a long history and distinctive features. The school was founded in 1933 as Zheng County Industrial Vocational School (later renamed Zhengzhou Advanced Industrial Vocational School), in 1953, the motor departments from six senior industrial schools in five central provinces merged and set up a school named Zhengzhou Electric Power Industry School. Subsequently, the school name had been changed to Henan Electric Power Institute, Zhengzhou Electric Power Institute, Zhengzhou Electric Power School, and at last, in 1994, Zhengzhou Electric Power College. Power technical professional is given priority to in this college, with manufacturing, electronic information, finance and other professional. It is the cradle and base to develop electric power construction, production, and management talents.

The school located in Zhengzhou City, which is in central China and the center of China's high-speed rail network, making it convenient to travel. The school covers an area of 294300 square meters, and the total housing area is 165200 square meters. the geographical position is superior, the traffic is convenient, the campus provides the students with a modern, gardenlike and ecotype new campus.

The school has 144 practical teaching places, including 18 training rooms supported by the central government, 9 training bases supported by the provincial government, 3 training bases supported by State Grid Henan Electric Power Company (including 12 training rooms), Henan University Electric Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Engineering Technology Research Center, Zhengzhou Key Laboratory of Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction of Power Generation Boilers. The school library has over 438,000 books.There are more than 2000 computers for teaching and 116 multimedia classrooms. The school training room, classroom, canteen, dormitory, etc. have reached full coverage of central air conditioning, and the campus network is complete.

We have an existing staff of 399 employees, including 244 full-time teachers, 24 professors, 104 associate professors, and senior engineers, among whom 119 teachers have got master's degrees, 91 of them are double-capability teachers. We have also set up an expert database with 159 technicians and 79 skill experts from Henan Electric Power Technology Institute and other part-time markets respectively, which builds the main body of the stable external part-time teachers and constitutes an uplifting teaching team with sufficient number, good quality, professional supporting and reasonable structure.

The professional layout of the school is mainly based on traditional electric power majors. In recent years, new majors such as numerical control technology, industrial robots, communication technology, wind power system operation and maintenance have been set up. At present, it has formed 30 majors and professional directions covering five great speciality fields of power engineering, power engineering, electromechanical engineering, information and communication, and economic management, school of Energy and Power Engineering, School of Electrical Engineering, School of Information and Communication and School of Economics and Management 5 secondary colleges.
