The predecessor of Xishuangbanna Vocational and Technical College was the provincial Fohai Simple Normal School founded in 1936. In July 2001, approved by the Provincial People's Government and filed by the Ministry of Education, the former Xishuangbanna National Normal School, Xishuangbanna Radio and Television University, and Xishuangbanna Education College merged to form Xishuangbanna Vocational and Technical College. In 2003, the former Xishuangbanna Prefecture Finance School, Health School and Agricultural School were merged into the college. In 2006, it passed the evaluation of the Ministry of Education's higher vocational and technical personnel training work level and was awarded the "good" ranking; in 2012, the first batch of Yunnan Province's higher vocational education demonstration colleges was established; in 2013, it passed the characteristics of Yunnan Province's higher vocational colleges Evaluate.
