

Xinjiang University of Technology is a public full-time undergraduate institution approved by the Ministry of Education. The school is located in Hetian New City, Hetian Prefecture, covering a total area of 3,202 mu.
The school is based in southern Xinjiang, oriented towards Xinjiang, and radiates to the western region. It sets up 11 colleges including the College of Natural Resources Science and Technology, the College of New Energy and Mining, the College of Materials and Chemical Engineering, the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and Automation, the College of Architecture and Civil Engineering, the College of Water Conservancy and Hydropower, the College of Big Data and Information Engineering, the College of Economics and Management, the Hetian Jewelry College, the College of Marxism, and the College of General Education, offering over 50 undergraduate programs. It is an application-oriented university mainly focusing on engineering, with mining and energy as its distinctive features, and integrating multiple disciplines such as engineering, science, management, and economics.
Under the care and support of the Ministry of Education, 31 high-level universities, with Central South University as the leading unit, have provided "clustered" support for the school's construction, establishing a new model of all-round targeted support featuring "big clusters + small clusters + professional package construction", fully demonstrating the advantages of the socialist system with Chinese characteristics in concentrating resources to accomplish major tasks, and injecting new impetus into the school's high-starting-point operation and leapfrog development.

Xinjiang University of Technology, abbreviated as XUT, is a public full-time undergraduate university under the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. It was approved by the Ministry of Education in February 2025 (Document No. 15 of the Ministry of Education [2025]), with the identification code 4165014897. The university is located on Minsheng Road in the Economic Development Zone of Hotan County, Hotan Prefecture, covering an area of 3,202 mu. It has five professional colleges, including the College of Natural Resources Science and Technology and the College of New Energy and Mining. It offers 16 undergraduate programs such as Intelligent Mining Engineering and Metallurgical Engineering. With over 400 full-time teachers, the university focuses on engineering and highlights the characteristics of mining and energy. It has established a multi-disciplinary, cross-integrated and application-oriented education system. Its motto is "Forge the Kunlun Mountains with Engineering, Nourish the World with Education".
In January 2024, the construction of the university was included in the development plan of Xinjiang Autonomous Region. In November of the same year, Tongji University signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps to support its establishment. In May 2025, the Ministry of Education held a "cluster-style" targeted support meeting, determining that 31 universities including Central South University would jointly support its construction. It also signed an undergraduate joint training agreement with Kunming University of Science and Technology. The university started its first enrollment in June 2025, completed the recruitment of the first batch of undergraduate students in August, and established school-enterprise cooperation with Xinjiang No.1 Iron and Steel Group and other enterprises.
