Weifang University is a full-time comprehensive general undergraduate university in Shandong Province approved by the Ministry of Education, located in Weifang, Shandong Province, the world-famous capital of kites and the national civilized city. The university is the construction unit of provincial famous school with application-oriented talents cultivation characteristics, A class unit of provincial master's degree awarding construction, the first batch of support units of provincial applied undergraduate college construction, provincial civilized campus, and the university jointly built by Shandong Provincial Department of Education and Weifang Municipal People's Government.
The university covers an area of 1,543 mu (1.03 million square meters), has a building area of 843,000 square meters, a library of 3,174,500 books and 41.5 terabytes of digital resources, a modern multi-functional gymnasium of 40,000 square meters and a campus network of leading level of similar institutions in China, and is the node unit of China Education and Research Network (CERNET) in Weifang. There are provincial key laboratories of multi-photon entanglement and manipulation, biochemistry and molecular biology, provincial engineering technology research center of fiber optic sensing and photoelectric information, provincial engineering laboratory of vegetable planting equipment intelligence, provincial university collaborative innovation center of modern vegetable seed industry, provincial industrial design center, provincial research base of folk culture industry development, provincial research base of humanities and social science of universities and base of inheritance of excellent Chinese traditional culture, etc. There are 15 provincial scientific research innovation platforms and 21 municipal scientific research innovation platforms. It has built 62 research institutes, such as Quantum Information Technology Research Institute, North Sea Culture Research Institute, Weifang Finance and Finance Research Institute, Energy Conservation Research Institute, Cultural and Cultural Heritage Research Institute, and New Electromagnetic Materials Research Institute, etc. It publishes the academic journal Weifang College Journal.
