Tianjin Normal University was founded in 1958, formerly known as Tianjin Normal University. The history of normal education inherited by the university can be traced back to the Beiyang normal school established in 1906, Tianjin Industrial and Commercial University established in 1921 and Tianjin Municipal normal school established in 1930. It was renamed Tianjin Normal University in 1982. In April 1999, the former Tianjin Normal University, Tianjin Normal College and Tianjin pedagogy The college merged to form a new Tianjin Normal University.
