About the University

Tianjin Maritime College (TMC) is a full-time state-run higher vocational school under direct administration of Tianjin Municipal Education Commission. The origin of the school dates back to 1962. In 2017, Tianjin Municipal Education Commission became the supervisory organization to TMC.

Tianjin Maritime College is located in Tianjin Haihe Educational Park, a national Vocational Education Reform and Innovation Demonstration Zone. It covers an area of 650,666 sq.m, first phase of structure area being 176,000 sq.m.

The college is a Demonstrative Higher Vocational College in Tianjin, a national teaching standard setting unit for International Cruise Service and Management major, a teaching cooperation center unit for International Cruise Service and Management major of the Navigation Professional Steering Committee of the National Association of Transportation Vocational Education; besides, it is also the leading college of China Alliance of Cruise Talent Education and Training, Cruise and Yacht Collaborative Innovation Center in Tianjin, Tianjin Non-Destructive Testing Vocational Education Alliance, and of the Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. Cruise Talent Development Center.

The college is now known as the training base in Tianjin of fostering highly skilled talent, training base of highly-skilled and urgently needed marine transportation personnel in Binhai New District, and cradle of international cruise service talents with high quality.

In the future, TMC will, in accordance with China’s The Belt and Road Initiative, Coordinated Development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, and Ocean Power, further comply with national, regional, and industry development needs, adhere to the moral education as a fundamental mission, stick to the college-running principle of the Combination of Employment and Studying, Three Certificates, Paramilitary Management, Etiquette Education, and comprehensibly improve its overall school running abilities, society serving skills, and internationalized school-running capability. TMC is resolved to build a training base for top-notch marine transportation talent armed with skills and techniques, top shipping industry development service base, and first class international cooperation education base. Among them, international cruise crew, financial management and Practice (shipping finance) and yacht maintenance technology are the first majors in Higher Vocational Colleges in China, including navigation technology, marine engineering technology, physical and chemical testing and quality inspection technology (nondestructive testing), pipeline engineering construction, international cruise crew, cooking technology and nutrition (cruise cooking) Professional, financial management and Practice (shipping finance), welding technology and automation (ship welding), communication technology (ship communication equipment), yacht maintenance technology, ship machinery manufacturing and maintenance, and ship electronic and electrical technology are the unique majors in Tianjin higher vocational colleges, including navigation technology, marine engineering technology Physical and chemical testing and quality inspection technology (nondestructive testing) and international cruise crew are the key majors of the college.
