

Taizhou Polytechnic College was established with the approval of the former National Education Commission in March 1998. It is one of the first batch of 14 full-time higher vocational and technical colleges in China, the first institution in Jiangsu Province to be named "Vocational and Technical College", and also the first ordinary university in Taizhou City at the prefecture level. The college is under the jurisdiction of the People's Government of Taizhou City.
The history of the college can be traced back to the establishment of Taizhou Medical College in 1958 (later renamed Taizhou Health School); In June 1985, three industry bureau run employee universities merged to establish Taizhou City Employee University; In March 1998, Taizhou Vocational and Technical College was established; In August 2000, Taizhou Health School was merged into Taizhou Vocational and Technical College as a whole. The college is currently a demonstration vocational college in Jiangsu Province, and has been awarded honorary titles such as Jiangsu Civilized Campus, Harmonious Campus, Garden School, and Safe University.
The college is located in the core area of Taizhou National Medical High tech Zone - China Pharmaceutical City, covering an area of 72.11 hectares. It is a first-class modern campus, ecological campus, and smart campus for vocational colleges in China. There are 9 colleges and 1 department, including the School of Medicine, School of Intelligent Manufacturing, School of Economics and Management, School of Information Technology, School of Pharmacy, School of Architecture and Engineering, School of Art, School of Marxism, School of Continuing Education, and Department of Basic Science. In 2022, the college will set up 47 majors (with an actual enrollment of 40). There are currently 658 faculty members, 403 full-time teachers, and 192 teachers with senior professional titles, including 29 senior high school teachers, 282 teachers with master's or above degrees, and 353 teachers with dual qualification, accounting for 87.6%. There are 9635 full-time students of various types, 9241 adult education students, and over 20000 annual social training sessions. Over the past 62 years of education, the college has cultivated over 80000 outstanding talents of various types for Taizhou and the Yangtze River Delta region, known as the "base for incubating engineering technology and management talents; the cradle for cultivating angels in white and oral defenders".
The college has 2 national key construction majors, 5 provincial-level characteristic majors, 3 provincial-level key construction professional groups, and 3 provincial-level backbone majors; There are 2 national level training centers, 3 provincial-level training bases, 2 provincial-level deep integration training platforms for industry and education, 1 provincial-level intelligent pharmaceutical industry and education integration integration platform, 131 on campus practical training bases, 405 off campus practical training bases jointly built with enterprises and institutions, and 5 school enterprise dual main body colleges. There are 10 provincial and municipal engineering technology research centers, including the Jiangsu Provincial CNC Machine Tool Engineering Technology Research and Development Center. There is a national vocational skills appraisal institute, which can carry out 53 vocational skills training and appraisal. The college is a "Ministry of Education ZTE ICT Industry Innovation Base", a ZTE CLAA (China LoRa Alliance) IoT demonstration base, a national level "Industrial Robot Open Public Training Base" and "ABB/Xinshida Industrial Robot R&D Application Center" construction unit of the Ministry of Education, a national excellent adult continuing education institution (training institution), an excellent correspondence teaching station for continuing education in Chinese universities, and one of the first batch of pilot institutions for the 1+X certificate system in China, Jiangsu Province is one of the first batch of full-time education institutions for social personnel, Jiangsu Province Industrial Talent Training Base, and Taizhou Shuangyong College.
In recent years, students have won over 400 awards in various skill competitions across the province, including 32 national level awards and 53 provincial and ministerial level awards.
