

Taiyuan University originated from the new Taiyuan University established in December 2002 through the merger of the original Taiyuan University, Taiyuan Normal School and Taiyuan Institute of Education. Approved by the Ministry of Education in April 2013, it was upgraded to a full-time comprehensive general undergraduate university and renamed Taiyuan University.
