South-Central Minzu University is a comprehensive university of higher learning directly under the State Ethnic Affairs Commission. It is jointly built by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, the Ministry of Education, Hubei Province and Wuhan City. It is located near the South Lake of Wuhan, the hometown of Baiyun Huanghe. Founded in 1951, the University is one of the earliest ethnic universities established after the founding of New China.
