

Located in Dazhoueastern Sichuan Province – the land of abundance, Sichuan University of Arts and Science (SASU) can be traced back to Longshan Academy in late Qing Dynasty. 1976, the university was named “Daxian Normal College” and began undertaking higher education. Approved by the State Council in 1978 as a national full-time college, “Daxian Normal College” was changed to “Daxian Teacher’s College” and later known as “Daxian Teachers’ Higher College”. Confirmed by the Ministry of Education in 2006, it was upgraded to an undergraduate university and named “Sichuan University of Arts and Science”.
Sichuan University of Arts and Science consists of two campuses: Lianhu Campus and Nanba Campus, occupying 553,300 square meters with over 300,000 square meters of construction area. Its library has a collection of over 1,290,000 volumes, and the total value of the equipment for teaching and scientific research is about 100 million Yuan. The university has over 200 professors or associate professors, and 70% of its 1,000 faculty members have a doctorate or master’s degree. In addition, it has 10 foreign teachers, 3 academic and technical leaders and reserve candidates of Sichuan Province, 1 outstanding contribution expert, 27 teaching masters and ethical role models as teachers. Admitting students from 22 provinces, the university has over 12,000 full-time enrolled students, 42 international students and over 6,000 commuter students.
The university is comprised of 18 secondary colleges, covering eight disciplines, literature, science, engineering, education, arts, management, history and law with 45 undergraduate programs and 26 three-year programs. It has established “The Research Center of Sichuan Province Revolution Development”—a key base of Sichuan social science research, “the Laboratory of Special Plants Study”—a key laboratory of Sichuan colleges, “the Base of Spreading Literature, Arts and Social Science among Sichuan Youth”.
The university has been actively enlarging its international exchange and cooperation programs and keeping 10 foreign teachers and experts all year round. On top of this, it has established relationship with over 10 overseas universities in America, Britain, South Korea, Malaysia, Australia, Czech and France, and about 100 teachers and students take part in study and exchange programs with partner universities each year.
Theuniversity highlights the subtle influence of campus environment and cultural activities on teachers and students, and brings their educating role into full play, promoting cultural activities such as Art Festival of College Students, Happy Saturday and so on. Dances “To Youth” and “Soul Cast in Ba Mountain” were awarded the silver medals in the “Lotus Prize”- National Dance Competition, and over 280 artworks won national and provincial awards.
In the early 1980s, Ms. Ouyang De, a professor from Michigan State University in the United States, visited for the first time, opening up the international exchanges of Sichuan University of Arts and Science. Since then, nearly a hundred foreign experts, foreign university presidents, teachers and students have visited the school. 66 foreign teachers from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, South Korea, Uzbekistan, etc. have successively taught in the school, and the longest continuous teaching time has reached 6 years. , There are about 10 foreign experts and teachers teaching in the school throughout the year. The introduction of high-quality foreign intelligence has made positive contributions to expanding the horizons of international education, promoting education and teaching reform, and enhancing the internationalization of education and cross-cultural exchanges.
The university actively expands the international perspective of education, and has established cooperation and exchange relationships with more than 10 universities in the United States, Britain, France, Australia, Czech Republic, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos and other countries. University, Northern University, Potra University, Swansea University, Highland and Islands University and other exchanges and visits, recommend students with excellent academic performance to the United States for paid internships and master's degrees. In 2014, it began to recruit international students. A total of 105 international students from 11 countries including Laos, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, etc. have been enrolled, and 65 international students are currently enrolled in the school.
