Shijiazhuang University is a state-owned full-time general university whose establishment is approved by Ministry of Education. The university, located in Shijiazhuang Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone of Hebei Province, is composed of south and north campuses, with convenient transport facilities, beautiful environment, advantageous geographic location and sound economic & cultural conditions. The Shijiazhuang University was originally founded as Shijiazhuang Prefecture Normal College in 1958 and then it was renamed Shijiazhuang Normal Junior College in 1959. In 1977, with the approval of the Provincial Party Committee, Shijiazhuang Teachers’ School was established in Gaocheng Middle School. In 1978, it was relocated to Zhengding, and in 1979 to Niushan, Huailu. In 1982, approved by the Ministry of Education and the State Council, the school was officially named Shijiazhuang Normal Junior College. In 1983, it moved to the campus on the bank of Hutuo River in the northern suburb of Shijiazhuang. In March 1996, approved by the People’s Government of Hebei Province, Shijiazhuang Normal Junior College, Shijiazhuang Regional Educational College and Shijiazhuang Educational College merged to form a new institution named Shijiazhuang Normal Junior College. In May 2004, approved by the Ministry of Education, Shijiazhuang Normal Junior College was promoted to Shijiazhuang University. Since its establishment, the university has cultivated more than 130,000 talents of various majors who, in their respective positions, keep mission firmly in mind, make arduous efforts and contribute intelligence and strength to the construction, reform and development of the country.

At present, the university has 1,325 faculty members. Among them, 525 hold senior professional & technical position qualifications; 271 are awarded doctor’s degree; 891 are awarded master’s degree, and there are 535 “dual-qualified & dual-talented” teachers. The Shijiazhuang University, with a floor area of 1,221 mu (a unit of area) and a construction area of 407,600 square meters, is equipped with 14 experiment and practical training centers and 333 teaching & scientific research laboratories, and the total value of teaching, scientific research & experiment instruments and equipment reaches 0.267 billion yuan. In our library, there are more than 1.27 million books, 24 Chinese and foreign-language databases, more than 3.64 million e-books, 202 kinds of Chinese paper journals and 6 kinds of foreign academic journals as well as a regularly published professional journal named Journal of Shijiazhuang University. At present, the university has 17,196 full-time students. It has set up 14 administrative organizations, 17 schools and 11 teaching auxiliary, research and other institutions. The university offers 67 undergraduate majors covering 11 disciplines, such as economics, law, pedagogy, literature, history, science, engineering, agronomy, medicine, management and art. Being highly accord with Shijiazhuang’s goals of first making breakthroughs in such two major industries as electronic information and biomedicine and forging more than 5 one hundred billion-level industry clusters, the school of future information technology has been established to form five key major clusters, including information technology, chemical and pharmaceutical engineering, electromechanical engineering, cultural media and teacher education. There are 2 national characteristic major construction programs, 3 national first-class undergraduate major construction programs, 9 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction programs, 4 provincial characteristic majors, 2 provincial undergraduate education innovation highlands, 2 provincial comprehensive pilot reform majors, 2 provincial colleges of modern industry, 3 university teaching teams of Hebei Province, 8 provincial high-quality (resource sharing, open online) courses, 6 provincial first-class undergraduate courses, 4 provincial experiment & teaching demonstration centers and 4 provincial famous teachers.

Shijiazhuang University adheres to the school-running orientations of localization, application and internationalization, promotes the transformation and development in depth and constantly deepens the reform of teaching and education, thereby improving the quality of talent cultivation. The university has set up 514 off-campus teaching practice bases, and among them, “Shijiazhuang University Yiling Pharmaceutical Educational Practice Base” is identified as one of the first batch of off-campus educational practice bases for college students in Hebei Province. The initial employment rate of its graduates ranks high among universities of the same kind in Hebei Province. Shijiazhuang University students perform well in National Postgraduate Entrance Examination, National Judicial Examination, practicing qualification examinations and Examination for Undergraduate Education Immediately after Junior College Education. A large number of graduates have furthered their studies in domestic key universities, such as Peking University. Seizing the opportunity of the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, focusing on the needs of the economic and social development of Hebei province, especially the needs of Shijiazhuang’s pillar industries, the university promotes scientific research and discipline construction to a higher standard and towards the aim of being application-oriented, comprehensively improving the research level, innovation capability and the ability to serve society. In recent five years, the university has undertaken 744 scientific research projects, including 5 projects of national-level, 100 projects of provincial-level, 324 projects entrusted by various enterprises, and 14 projects which have won awards above provincial level. The university has cumulatively published 2,763 research papers. Among them, 182 have been cited by SCI, EI and ISTP, and 798 have been published on Chinese core journals. There are also 113 patents which have been authorized and 109 monographs and textbooks that have been published.
