The university is located in Shangqiu City, Henan Province, a famous historical and cultural city in China known as the source of the Yin Shang Dynasty and the capital of Chinese merchants. It was founded in 1994. In 2011, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Shangqiu Institute of Technology was established on the basis of the former Shangqiu Vocational College of Science and Technology, offering full-time general undergraduate education. Currently, it has 3 campuses, covering a total area of more than 2,300 mu, with a school building area of more than 670,000 square meters, a collection of more than 2.2 million paper books, and teaching and research instruments and equipment worth more than 180 million yuan. There are more than 20,000 full-time undergraduate and junior college students. Products developed in cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Sciences have broken the relevant foreign technical monopoly. Through technical upgrading and transformation in cooperation with school-enterprise cooperation enterprises, the production efficiency of enterprises has been improved, resulting in good economic benefits. As the chairman unit of Shangqiu Civil Engineering and Architecture Society, it has played an active role in promoting the development of the local civil engineering industry.
