Shandong University of Technology (SDUT), founded in 1956,is now a provincial key university of Science and Engineering.The campus is situated in the city of Zibo, which is the cradle of ancient Qi-culture.

SDUT takes fostering morality and cultivating talents as the fundamental task. The talent-cultivating system covers undergraduate programs, master-degree programs and PhD programs as well as short-term language training programs and‘culture’ classes for overseas students. SDUT is one of the accredited Chinese Institutions that can admit international students under Chinese Government Scholarship Programs. It is also one of the Institutions admitting international students under Shandong Provincial Government Scholarship Programs, one of the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) network quiz points, and one of the International Chinese Language Teacher Certificate test centers. In recent years, more than 3300 international students from over 40 countries and regions took technology, language and cultural classes here and became envoys of friendship in Sino-foreign relations.

Shandong University of Technology (SDUT) has a proud history of providing quality education to international students, which can be traced back to 1997. In 2006, the School of International Education was established, working jointly with the Office of International Cooperation & Exchange till 2018, when it became an independent school to exclusively manage admissions, education and support services of international students with its four offices, including the General Affairs Office, the Student Affairs Office, the Teaching Management Office and the International Admissions Office.

SDUT became one of the first qualified institutions to offer Shandong Provincial Government Scholarship for Foreign Students in 2011; one of the qualified institutions admitting international students under the Chinese Government Scholarship Programs in 2014; and one of the qualified institutions admitting international students under the Chinese Government Scholarship-Silk Road Program for the first time in 2019.

In recent years, we have made significant progress in our international education with the population of international students increasing steadily, the nationality structure of international students more balanced and the education system complete with different levels of education offering bachelor degree programs, master degree programs and PhD degree programs. In 2019, we had a total number of 1,033 international students, ranking forefront among universities in Shandong Province. Over the years, we established 49 undergraduate inter-collegiate exchange programs. In the past 10 years, 5,500 international students from more than 30 countries have completed their studies with us, including students from the United States, Russia, Japan and South Korea.

SDUT boasts state-of-art facilities with its own testing centers for students to conveniently sit for Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) and Business Chinese Test (BCT) on campus, a Testing Center and Training Center for International Chinese Teacher Certificate designated by International Society of Chinese Language Pedagogy (ISCLP) as well as an International Student Cultural Experience Base, aiming to cultivate sino-foreign friendly exchange messengers with a better understanding of China, constantly improve the education quality for international students and innovate our talent training model.

We developed a series of distinctive courses delivered either in Chinese or in English by building on the discipline strengths of SDUT to cater to the needs of international students, forming a complete international education system to provide language study programs, undergraduate programs, graduate programs and doctoral programs. Currently we are offering two undergraduate courses in Chinese: Chinese Language and Literature (business Chinese stream) and International Business (business management stream), as well as four undergraduate courses in English: International Economics and Trade (international logistics stream), Mechanical Design & Manufacturing and Automation, Computer Science & Technology and Civil Engineering. In addition, 22 other schools of SDUT are offering 71 undergraduate courses and 34 graduate courses for international students.
