

Shandong University of Engineering and Vocational Technology is a bachelor’s-level vocational and technical university approved by the Ministry of Education with the authority to independently issue academic diplomas; it is one of the first batch of bachelor’s-level vocational and technical universities in the country. Located in Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province, the university comprises two campuses: the Main Campus (Zhangqiu) and the North Campus (Shanghe). Program Development: Serving National Strategies to Support the Construction of a Manufacturing Powerhouse
Centering on major national strategies such as building a manufacturing powerhouse and Shandong’s transformation of old and new growth drivers, the university focuses on the needs of Shandong’s “Top Ten” advantageous industrial clusters and the “6997” modern industrial system. Targeting high-end industries and the high-end of industrial sectors, the university proactively aligns with pillar industries such as next-generation information technology, intelligent manufacturing, smart construction, and new energy. The university continuously adjusts and optimizes its program offerings, having established 29 undergraduate programs and 35 associate degree programs. It has developed four major new engineering program clusters—New Infrastructure Information Technology, Smart Manufacturing, New Energy Vehicle Technology, and New Building Industrialization—as well as a new business program cluster in Digital Finance and Commerce Services. The total value of teaching and research equipment exceeds 276 million yuan. To date, the college has established two provincial-level brand major clusters, two provincial-level high-level major clusters, two provincial-level industry-school collaborative engineering majors, and four provincial-level distinctive majors. The college has been recognized with over 40 provincial-level awards, including Provincial Model Courses, Resource-Sharing Courses, and Model Ideological and Political Education Courses; secured funding for two national-level research projects; received one first-class and three second-class National Teaching Achievement Awards; and earned 14 Shandong Provincial Vocational Education Teaching Achievement Awards, including three provincial special awards and five first-class awards. In both 2022 and 2023, the number of provincial-level key teaching reform projects ranked first among vocational colleges in the province.

The college adheres to a talent-driven development strategy and has built a high-caliber faculty characterized by “reasonable structure, scientific hierarchy, noble professional ethics, and excellent quality.” Currently, the college has over 1,400 full-time faculty members. All undergraduate programs are led by provincial-level distinguished teaching masters. The college has established two provincial-level Huang Danian-style teaching teams, seven provincial-level educational innovation teams, five provincial-level teaching teams, and three provincial-level master craftsman studios and distinguished teacher studios. Industry-Education Integration: Focusing on Talent Development to Build a Hub for Skilled Services
The university is actively building an ecosystem for industry-education integration, aligning with the standards for modern industry colleges. It strives to enhance the synergy and integration of industry-education collaboration and school-enterprise partnerships. By partnering with renowned and leading enterprises in the industry, the university has leveraged over 100 million yuan in corporate investment to establish the Dingli Communications College, Huawei ICT College, Oracle Cloud College, Goertek Smart Manufacturing Industry College, Kaichuang Smart Finance College, Shandong Expressway & Bridge Industry College, Chery Automobile Industry College, and JD Digital Commerce College. The university has established off-campus internship bases in partnership with over 300 enterprises, including Sinotruk, Haier, and Hisense, transforming school-enterprise cooperation from superficial “internship and employment” arrangements to deep collaboration and joint talent cultivation. Four projects have been selected for the Provincial Department of Education’s On-Site Engineer Special Training Program. The university has taken the lead in establishing industry-education integration consortia in fields such as the national spatiotemporal IoT industry, new energy vehicle manufacturing and services, and high-end intelligent software innovation ecosystems, as well as the Jinan City Digital E-commerce and Modern Service Industry Industry-Education Integration Consortium and the Municipal Industry-Education Joint Consortium. It has also established industry-education integration consortia in Jinan for digital and intelligent manufacturing, smart buildings, and creative design, empowering regional industrial innovation and development.
Scientific Research: Deepening Research Foundations to Drive Excellence in Innovation
The university has strengthened the development of research platforms and teams, having established more than 10 provincial-level platforms or technology R&D centers. Leveraging four major new engineering discipline clusters, the university has invested over 70 million yuan to establish four Shandong Provincial Higher Education New Technology R&D Centers—covering new building industrialization, new energy vehicle manufacturing and services, intelligent manufacturing, and “spatio-temporal IoT cloud applications” for smart cities. These centers have undertaken more than 80 technology R&D and technology transfer projects for enterprises, yielding significant economic benefits; The university has launched the “Undergraduate Research Breakthrough Special Program,” allocating 2 million yuan in dedicated funding to establish 100 student research projects, encouraging students to dare to innovate and excel in innovation. Over the past five years, the university has secured more than 300 national, provincial, and municipal teaching and research grants, obtained over 180 authorized patents (including national invention patents), and registered more than 100 software copyrights; annual research funding from industry partnerships has averaged over 10 million yuan in the past three years. According to the national research project rankings published by the “Vocational Education Development Think Tank,” the university ranked sixth among all national higher vocational colleges in terms of national-level research projects in 2023.
International Exchange: Expanding Educational Openness and Pioneering New Pathways for Vocational Education Abroad
The university adheres to an internationalization strategy, vigorously promoting the global expansion of vocational education. It has innovated the “education follows industry, industry and education advance together” model, establishing “Ban-Mo” Colleges in Malaysia, Vietnam, and Cambodia to offer “Chinese Language + Vocational Skills” training programs. The university has organized multiple groups of faculty and students to participate in study tours to Singapore, Germany, and other destinations, and has hosted events such as the “China-ASEAN International Education Exchange Summit” and the “China-Thailand Cultural Exchange,” thereby promoting cultural exchange between China and other countries. It has engaged in international exchange and cooperation with countries including the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Russia, Belarus, Japan, Nigeria, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, exporting “Chinese standards” and “Chinese solutions.” In 2025, the school admitted its first cohort of international students, comprehensively elevating the internationalization of vocational education.
