Binzhou university is a provincial full-time general undergraduate college located in Binzhou, the hometown of Sun Tzu, the old revolutionary base in Bohai, and the beautiful and rich Yellow River Delta central city. The school was known as Beizhen Normal School, which was founded in 1954. In 1983, it was renamed Binzhou Teachers Technical College. In 2004, it was rebuilt as Binzhou University with the approval of the Ministry of Education. The School passed the qualification evaluation of undergraduate teaching work by the Ministry of Education in 2012, and was successfully approved as a construction unit (Class A) in Shandong Province for master's degree granting in 2017. In October 2018, it successfully accepted the review and evaluation of undergraduate teaching work by the Ministry of Education, and was approved in January 2021. The School is also the first batch of supporting universities for the construction of applied undergraduate universities in Shandong Province.
The School’s party committee and administrative cadres lead the entire school’s teachers, students and staff, adhere to the guidance of Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, the important thinking of the Three Represents, the Scientific Outlook on Development, and Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to fully implement the Party’s Educational policy, to implement the fundamental task of moral education to cultivate people, actively meet the needs of industry and regional economic and social development, put forward the development idea of Ding Tian (connecting aviation industry) and “ Li Di (serving local development), and established the construction of aviation as the main characteristic High-level application-oriented universities have established and implemented the three-step development strategy for the goal of running a high-level application-oriented university, and various undertakings of the School have flourished.
The campus covers an area of 1.3130 million square meters with building area 722,300 square meters and laboratory area 95,700 square meters. There are 21 experimental teaching centers, two of which are provincial outstanding experimental teaching centers; the total value of teaching and research equipment is 257 million yuan, 1.92 million paper books in the library, and 1.21 million electronic books. There are 19 secondary institutions, 61 undergraduate majors, 30 junior college majors, recruiting students from 30 provinces (municipalities, autonomous regions) across the country, and 18,958 full-time undergraduate and junior college students.
Focusing on running a unique and differentiated local undergraduate education, the school takes advantage of the first-mover advantage of the first local undergraduate college to train pilots in the country, and strives to expand and strengthen its aviation characteristics. The scale of aviation disciplines is increasing, such as flight technology and civil aviation maintenance, engineering, air traffic control and dispatch, airport operation and management, aircraft power engineering, aircraft manufacturing engineering, aircraft airworthiness technology, aviation logistics engineering, aircraft design and engineering, unmanned aircraft system engineering, flight attendants, etc. All these majors are served to train talents in the aviation field. The majors (directions), the conditions for running schools are becoming more and more mature, and the social reputation continues to improve. The School has 38 teaching experiment and training platforms such as Boeing 737-300 aircraft scientific research teaching and training platform, flight simulation laboratory, air traffic management laboratory, CCAR147 civil aircraft maintenance training center, etc., and has established civil aviation pilot license examination points and CCAR66 civil aviation maintenance personnel license test site; it has cooperated with 22 companies such as China International Airlines, Eastern Airlines, Shandong Airlines to train aviation cadets, and has sent more than 4,000 cadets such as pilots, maintenance, dispatchers, controllers, and flight attendants to the civil aviation industry. More than a few graduates became captains. The teaching team of the Flight Academy was approved as the Huang Danian-style teaching team of Shandong University. The aviation characteristics of the school have been fully affirmed by the Civil Aviation Administration of China and unanimously recognized by the industry and enterprises. The former directors of the Civil Aviation Administration of China Li Jiaxiang and Yang Yuanyuan, and the civil aviation hero Yang Liwei have visited the school many times to inspect and guide the work. The school's aviation characteristics have become a beautiful business card for higher education in the province.
The school attaches great importance to scientific research, implements the First-class Discipline Construction Plan and 1355 Science and Technology Innovation Project, continuously strengthens its advantages and characteristics, and improves its scientific and technological innovation capabilities. There are seven provincial key disciplines, including Shandong Province Yellow River Delta Ecological Environment Key Laboratory, Shandong Province General Aviation Operation and Manufacturing Engineering Laboratory, Shandong Province General Aviation Operation and Manufacturing Collaborative Innovation Center, Shandong Province Marine Economic Data Processing and Application Engineering. There are 13 provincial and ministerial innovation platforms such as the Technology Collaborative Innovation Center, and five provincial university innovation platforms. In the past five years, the School has undertaken 44 national-level projects, 234 provincial and ministerial-level projects, and 327 horizontal projects, published 506 high-quality papers, published 309 works, and authorized 891 patents, and won 10 provincial and ministerial scientific research achievement awards. Nearly 100 million yuan of scientific research funds have been received. Journal of Binzhou University was rated as National Famous Journal of Local Colleges and Universities, and the column Sun Tzu Research was selected as the Famous Column Construction Project of the Ministry of Education. The school is a joint training base for postgraduates approved by the Shandong Provincial Department of Education. It has jointly trained 138 postgraduates with 32 units including the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhejiang University, Shandong University, and Nankai University.
The School continues to deepen international cooperation and exchanges, and has established friendly cooperative relations with 54 universities and educational institutions in the United States, Britain, France, Canada, Australia, Finland and other countries, and actively expands exchanges and cooperation with countries along the “Belt and Road”. There are currently one undergraduate program and three college programs in China-Foreign cooperation in running schools. The international training of teachers and students has been continuously strengthened, and the level of international education has been greatly improved.
