Shandong Institute of Commerce and Technology (SICT) is a public vocational college established with approval by the Ministry of Education in 1999. It has a history dating back to 1936 when it was Jinan Huilu Industrial and Commercial Private Vocational School. After more than 80 years of accumulation, our mission is to train students with business ethics and knowledge, our vision is to establish a top-level higher vocational school and to provide good quality vocational education services for the public. SICT stays committed to meeting the social employment demand and serving the students for their employment, develops business and cold chain education based on technology updating, the teaching quality and characteristics of SICT are widely recognized and appreciated by people.
SICT is a leading high vocational school in China and has achieved a great number of awards granted by central and provincial government, including China Top-Level Higher Vocational Colleges (Grade A), China High-Quality College, Excellent College in China Model Higher Vocational Colleges, China Leading Vocational Education Institution, Top 50 In Internship Management of China Vocational Colleges, Top 50 in Teaching Management of China Vocational Colleges, Top 50 in International Cooperation of China Vocational Colleges, Top 50 in Influence of Asia-pacific Vocational Colleges” in 2018 and 2019, and "Top 50 in Employment Quality of China Vocational Colleges, Leading Education Institution in Shandong and Model University on Moral Education etc.
With the support of Lushang Group, the school has also established the National Agricultural Products Modern Logistics Engineering Technology Research Center. The school has the Shandong Provincial Agricultural Product Storage and Transportation Technology Laboratory, Shandong Provincial Cloud Business Big Data Engineering Center, Northern China Modern Logistics Institute, Jinan Meat Quality and Safety Control Engineering Technology Research Center, Jinan Agricultural Product Quality and Safety Monitoring and Information Engineering Technology Research Center and other provincial and municipal scientific research institutions.
SICT occupies more than 173 hectares with more than 420,000 square meters of building area. The total assets value amounts to more than RMB1 billion, the school library possesses over 1.3 million books, SICT is equipped with a certain number of world-leading experimental training instruments and devices, and the total value of teaching equipment is more than RMB180 million. SICT enrolls students from all over China and has more than 15,000 full-time students.
SICT consists of twelve faculties such as Digital Marketing Industry School, Cloud Computing and Application Industry School, Cold Chain Logistics and Supply Chain Industry School, Modern Finance Industry School, Food Industry School, Health and Elderly Caring Industry School, Cultural and Innovation Industry School, Rural Revitalization Industry School, Accounting Department, Business Administration Department, Information Technology Department, Applied Electronics Department, as well as Marxism School, and Foundation Courses Department (Language Affairs Office). It also has the business-sponsored colleges like the School of Freda Bio-engineering, the School of MOON Group Engineering, Huawei ICT Academy and so on. SICT now has forty-seven programs such as accounting, marketing, cloud computing and application, refrigeration and air conditioning technology, food nutrition and testing and tourism management, etc.
SICT takes "training students with skills, knowledge based on professional ethics virtues of the students” as the fundamental task, has been vigorously working to provide more scientific programs, more comprehensive curriculum systems, better teachers, more practical teaching conditions and crediting system. It presides over projects initiated by the Ministry of Education such as the Project of Teaching Resource Library of Accounting for Higher Vocational Education, the Project of Teaching Resource Library of Marketing, and the Project of Teaching Resource Library of Cloud Computing and Application. SICT has been awarded a series of academic honors, such as one Excellent Program of China, one Model Center of Curriculum Ideology and Politics Teaching Research of China, two Teaching Reform Piloting Program authorized by the Ministry of Education, two Programs Funded by the Central Government, nine Model Programs of China, four Piloting Teaching Reform Programs of Shandong, and ten Brand Programs of Shandong. There are two state-level vocational education training bases and two provincial-level training bases, one Shandong provincial public innovative training base, and three skills inheritance and innovation platforms of vocational education in Shandong Province. The school won nine state-level teaching achievements, and thirty-eight provincial-level teaching achievement awards. There are seven state-level quality courses, seven national quality resource online courses, two national-level MOOCs, one national curriculum ideological and political demonstration course, sixty-nine provincial-level quality courses, twenty-one provincial-level quality resource sharing classes, one digital courses of continuing education in Shandong Province, two "Golden Courses"-provincial ideological and political courses, and eight provincial curriculum ideological and political demonstration courses. It also has one state-level teaching team, one national colleges and universities Huang Danian teaching team, two state-level teaching famous teachers, ten provincial-level teaching teams, nine provincial-level teaching famous teachers and three provincial-level excellent teachers. The school has six Shandong vocational education master's studios, one Shandong colleges and universities famous counselors’ studio and two Shandong colleges and universities ideological and political theory teaching master's studios. There are two of the top ten moral pacesetters in colleges and universities in Shandong Province, four top ten instructors in Shandong Province, three middle-aged and young experts with outstanding contributions in Shandong Province, and one most beautiful teacher in Qilu. In 2016, the “Internet plus aquatic products and logistics integrated technology” project won gold prize in the second “Internet + College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest” and the school won the only "best promotion of employment award" among the vocational colleges nation-wide. SICT also won two silver awards in the third " Internet + College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest ". The "Let the Robot run freely - Jichuang Robot Chassis Project" won gold prize in the fifth “Internet + College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest”. In addition, there are two silver awards and three bronze awards in the "Internet + College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest". SICT students and teachers also participated in and won prizes in such contests as National College Student Mathematic Modeling Competition, National Vocational College Information-Technology-aided Teaching Competitions and other national and provincial events. Besides, SICT ranks among the best in gold medal accumulation in National Vocational College Skills Competition.
SICT pays attention to international exchanges and cooperation. It has set up eight programs or braches in Australia, France, Thailand and other countries, operated the "China-Australia Cross-border E-commerce College" to output high-quality vocational education resources from Shandong to developed countries for the first time. And it has held seven collaborating programs such as financial management and accounting, with overseas universities in the UK, Australia, other countries and Taiwan (China). It also has organized teacher exchange visits and training activities with colleges and universities in more than a dozen countries (regions), such as the United States and South Korea. International students from Russia, Mongolia and other countries, as well as Pakistan, Bangladesh and other Belt and Road countries have been recruited to study in SICT.
