Shaanxi Youth Vocational College is a public ordinary higher education institution approved by the People's Government of Shaanxi Province and registered with the Ministry of Education. Located in Xi'an, an ancient capital and a famous historical and cultural city, it shares the same organizational structure with Shaanxi Provincial Communist Youth League School under two different names. It not only offers higher vocational education but also undertakes the task of education and training for Communist Youth League cadres and other youth workers in Shaanxi Province.
The college evolved from the Shaanxi Provincial Communist Youth League School founded in 1952. In 1984, it officially launched junior college education on the basis of short-term training for League cadres. In 1994, Shaanxi Youth Administrative Cadre College was established as an independently set up adult higher education institution. Upholding the fine traditions and cultural connotations of Communist Youth League schools and adapting to the demand for high-quality technical and skilled talents in economic and social development in the new era, it began to independently offer higher vocational education in 2003 and was officially restructured into Shaanxi Youth Vocational College in 2005.
Since its establishment, the college has always adhered to the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, adapted to the social demand for talents, vigorously cultivated young talents, made positive contributions to the development of the Communist Youth League cause and the economic and social development of Shaanxi Province and the northwest region, and enjoys a good social reputation both inside and outside the province.
The construction and development of the college have always received care from leaders at all levels. Xi Zhongxun, an elder proletarian revolutionary, wrote an inscription for the college: "Seek truth from facts, study diligently, and cultivate young people into new people with four virtues." State leaders such as Li Keqiang, Wang Zhaoguo, Liu Yandong, Li Jianguo, Chen Zongxing, and Zhou Qiang have successively visited the college and fully affirmed its achievements in reform, construction, and development.
The college currently has two campuses: Hanguang and Chang'an. The Hanguang Campus is located in the center of Xi'an, adjacent to the ancient city wall of the Ming Dynasty, with a long history, profound heritage, and an exquisite and elegant environment. The Chang'an Campus is situated in Changning New District, Chang'an District, backed by the Zhongnan Mountain in the south. With green mountains and clear waters, complete facilities, and comprehensive functions, it creates a good learning and living environment for students.
In recent years, the college has successively won honors such as Xi'an Civilized Unit, Provincial Garden-style Unit, and Shaanxi Model School for Running Schools in Accordance with the Law.
Adapting to the trend of economic and social development, the college follows the construction idea of "connecting with industries, serving Shaanxi, developing with characteristics, and striving for first-class". It sets up majors closely in line with the market and industries, and centers on the development needs of modern service industries. With the "Double High-Level" Plan as the leading force, it has built four major professional groups with high matching degree with regional economy, reasonable layout, optimized structure, and distinct characteristics, namely, design and media, culture and education, digital economy, and transportation services.
It has 9 secondary teaching units, including 6 teaching departments (Department of Culture and Media, Department of Transportation Operation and Service, Department of Digital Economy and Digital Technology, Department of Primary Education, Department of Preschool Education, and Department of Art Education), as well as the School of Marxism, the Teaching and Research Department of Public Courses, and the Training Department. It offers 31 higher vocational specialty programs, and has 2 provincial high-level professional group construction projects, 2 provincial "first-class major" cultivation projects, 5 provincial key majors, 3 provincial pilot majors for comprehensive reform, and 6 university-level key majors. It has unique advantages and occupies a unique position in the higher vocational education system in Shaanxi.
