Shaanxi College of Communication Technology is a public higher vocational college run by the People's Government of Shaanxi Province. It is committed to cultivating high-quality technical and skilled talents in transportation. Over the 72 years since its founding, it has trained more than 80,000 talents in total and is known as "the cradle of transportation construction and management talents in western China". The college is located in Xi'an, an ancient capital and one of the world's four major historical and cultural cities. Its predecessor was the Training Class for Cadres of the Transportation Department of the People's Government of Shaanxi Province, established in 1952. It was renamed Shaanxi Provincial Transportation School in 1956, upgraded to a higher vocational college and renamed Shaanxi College of Communication Technology in 2001, and transferred from the Provincial Department of Transportation to the Provincial Department of Education for management in 2011, implementing a co-construction mechanism by the Provincial Department of Education and the Provincial Department of Transportation. The college currently has four campuses: Wenjing, Ziqiang, Tongyuan and Taibai. The total construction area of the college is 473,200 square meters, with a total asset value of 1.77 billion yuan. The library has more than 900,000 paper books and more than 180,000 e-books. It has 3 national productive training bases, 1 school-enterprise collaborative technology innovation center, 3 training bases supported by the central finance, 5 provincial training bases, 5 provincial off-campus practice teaching bases, 1 national vocational education demonstration virtual simulation training base cultivation project, 5 virtual simulation training centers, 149 laboratories and training rooms, 589 off-campus training bases, and 1 college students' innovation and entrepreneurship education center. The college currently has teaching units such as the School of Highway Engineering, the School of Railway Engineering, the School of Architecture and Surveying Engineering, the School of Intelligent Automobile Manufacturing, the School of Automobile Application Engineering, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Rail Technology, the School of Railway Transportation, the School of Transportation Information, the School of Marxism, the School of General Education, the School of Physical Education, and the School of Continuing Education and International Exchange. It offers a total of 46 full-time vocational majors and 33 adult education majors. Among the full-time majors, there are 3 national backbone majors, 1 demonstration major of the Ministry of Education, 1 provincial curriculum ideological and political teaching research demonstration center, 3 Shaanxi provincial high-level professional groups, 9 provincial key majors, 6 provincial comprehensive reform pilot majors, 8 Shaanxi "first-class majors", 20 approved vocational skill level certificates, and 26 1+X certificate pilot majors. The college currently has 63 professors (including 5 professors at level 3 and above), 213 associate professors, 39 doctors, and 423 masters. The proportion of "double-qualified" teachers in key majors is 100%. It has 1 national teaching team, 1 team shortlisted for the National Colleges and Universities Huang Danian-style Teacher Team, 2 national vocational education teacher teaching innovation teams, 1 national curriculum ideological and political demonstration course teaching celebrity team, 1 person selected into the New Era Vocational School Famous Teachers (Masters) Training Program, 5 provincial teaching teams, 6 provincial curriculum ideological and political demonstration course teaching teams, and 13 provincial and ministerial-level teaching masters. It is among the top 100 excellent colleges and universities in the national higher vocational college teacher development index. In the past five years, faculty and staff have presided over and participated in 269 various scientific research projects, including 96 national and provincial projects, 83 departmental and bureau-level projects, 31 horizontal projects, and 59 school-level projects. They have presided over and participated in 271 various teaching research and reform projects, including 26 provincial and ministerial-level projects, 76 school-level teaching research and reform projects, 76 curriculum ideological and political special projects, and 93 various academic society projects. It hosts 1 national professional teaching resource database and participates in the construction of 5 national professional teaching resource databases. There are 32 national and provincial excellent courses, 2 national planning textbooks, and 13 provincial planning textbooks. In the past five years, it has won 2 national teaching achievement awards, 1 special prize, 3 first prizes, and 2 second prizes of Shaanxi provincial teaching achievements. Teachers have won 2 special prizes, 3 first prizes, 4 second prizes, and 1 third prize in national teaching competitions and other activities, and 9 first prizes, 11 second prizes, and 21 third prizes in provincial teaching competitions and other activities. The college currently has more than 16,000 full-time students and 2,990 continuing education and distance education students. In the past five years, students have won 16 national awards in the National Vocational College Skills Competition, 137 national first prizes and other awards in industry skills competitions, and 8 national awards in the National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. It is among the top 100 excellent colleges and universities in the national higher vocational college student development index. The college enrolls students from 28 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government) across the country. It is a vice-chairman unit of the China Transportation Education Research Association, a vice-chairman unit of the China Transportation Vocational Education Group, and a chairman unit of the Shaanxi Transportation and Logistics Vocational Education Group. It has 435 close school-enterprise cooperation units. The employment rate of graduates has remained above 97% for many years. It is an advanced collective in the employment work of college graduates in Shaanxi Province and a demonstration institution for employment and entrepreneurship guidance services of colleges and universities in Shaanxi Province.
