School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Shandong University
The School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SIE) was founded in 2017 by Shandong University, University of Cambridge and Qingdao Municipal Government. The school is located at Qingdao Campus of Shandong University.
Since its establishment, SIE dedicates to the teaching and research in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship. As a pioneer school of cross- disciplinary research in innovation, SIE currently has 18 academic faculty members (14 professors) and over 100 postgraduate students (MBA). Since 2017, 20 international students graduated from the school. SIE has hosted range of research projects and joint programmes in the areas of Innovation Management, Innovation Ecosystem, Entrepreneurship Studies, innovation and Intellectual Property, Economics of Innovation. The Forum for International Innovation and Entrepreneurship (FIIE) has also been instituted at SIE for knowledge exchange at the international level.
SIE also functions as a platform and thinktank for the establishment and operation of enterprises of innovation, facilitating the collaboration between government, industry and academia, encouraging the implementation of policies and strategies of innovation and providing service for the development of enterprises of innovation. SIE operates two industry incubates in Shibei District of Qingdao and on campus. The total size of the incubates exceeds 13,000 square meters. They are bases for the development of thinktanks for industries, cultivation of emerging enterprises, and commercialization of achievements of scientific technology. The incubates provides dynamism for the economic and social development of Qingdao. SIE has also provided a range of non-degree educational programmes for the training of professional managers of technologies for Qingdao, and for the nation.
SIE has endeavored to build virtual and sustainable collaborations with foreign universities and institutes. The school seeks interaction between cross-disciplinary research, education, and society, boosting the social development with science and technology, preparing for a better future of humankind. All the staff of SIE will contribute to build a first-tier academic discipline in China and an internationally oriented research institute.
