About the University

Shaanxi Railway Institute (referred to as Shaanxi Railway Institute) was founded in 1973. Its predecessor was the Weinan Railway Engineering School of the Ministry of Railways, located in Weinan City, Shaanxi Province. It was transferred to the People's Government of Shaanxi Province in 2002 and restructured and upgraded to a higher vocational college in 2003. The school has successively undergone major projects such as being rated as excellent in the Ministry of Education's talent training level evaluation, being a provincial demonstration school, a national backbone college, the Ministry of Education's Innovation and Development Action Plan, and the construction of a new campus. It is now a project-constructing unit of high-level vocational schools with Chinese characteristics, a national high-quality vocational school, one of the first batch of "1+X" certificate system pilot units of the Ministry of Education, one of the first batch of national vocational education teacher teaching innovation team project-constructing units, one of the first batch of national vocational colleges that passed the review of diagnosis and improvement with "effectiveness", a Chinese project institution of the Ministry of Education's "Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Exchange Program", a national smart campus pilot school, a national healthy school construction unit, and a high-level vocational school (Grade A) in Shaanxi Province. The school was established because of railways and has grown relying on railways. It adheres to running a school with railway characteristics and has trained more than 80,000 high-quality technical and skilled talents in total, being an important base for cultivating talents in railway and urban rail engineering construction and management in China. The school has won 11 national teaching achievement awards and 21 provincial teaching achievement awards, 6 national vocational education online quality courses and quality resource sharing courses, 27 provincial online quality courses, 4 key majors of national backbone higher vocational colleges, 1 major supported by the central finance to enhance the professional service industry development capacity, 1 demonstration major of the Ministry of Education, 8 national backbone majors, and 12 provincial key majors. It has presided over and participated in the formulation of 25 national professional teaching standards. It has 15 textbooks selected into the "14th Five-Year Plan" national planning textbooks, and has won 1 first prize and 2 second prizes in the first National Textbook Construction Award. There are 2 national key construction training bases, 3 national productive training bases, 6 provincial training bases, 2 national "double-qualified" teacher training bases, 2 national applied technology collaborative innovation centers, 1 national skill master studio. It has presided over the construction of 2 national vocational education professional teaching resource databases and 6 provincial professional teaching resource databases, 1 typical case of "double-qualified" teacher team construction in national vocational colleges, and 3 national model branches of party building work. The second batch of modern apprenticeship pilot projects has passed the acceptance of the Ministry of Education.
