SHAANXI AVIATION PROFESSIONAL TECHNICAL INSTITUTE is an independently established ordinary higher vocational education institution affiliated to Aviation Industry Corporation of China Ltd. With a history of more than 40 years in running the school, it has successively gone through several development stages, including 012 Base Technical School, Shaanxi Aeronautical Technician College and 012 Base Institute of Technology, Southern Shaanxi Aeronautical Staff and Workers University, and Shaanxi Vocational and Technical College of Aeronautics. In December 2020, Shaanxi Vocational and Technical College of Aeronautics and Shaanxi Aeronautical Technician College were fully integrated, adopting a management model of "one set of institutions, two nameplates, integration of secondary and higher vocational education, and management of two campuses". The school covers an area of 806 mu, with a total fixed asset value of 372 million yuan. Its operation is concentrated in Nanzheng Campus and Hantai Campus, forming a new pattern of one school with two campuses. Over more than 40 years since its establishment, it has cultivated nearly 100,000 medium and senior technical and skilled talents and production and operation backbones, represented by chief skill experts of Aviation Industry, national labor models, national technical experts, and well-known entrepreneurs.

There are more than 17,000 students and over 560 faculty members, among whom 113 have associate senior titles or above, 160 have postgraduate degrees, 1 is a national technical expert, recipient of the special government allowance of the State Council, and Shaanxi Provincial Labor Model, 17 are aviation vocational education famous teachers, provincial-level teaching masters, teaching experts, and teaching pacesetters, 7 are professional (disciplinary) leaders in Shaanxi technical schools, and 24 are technicians or senior technicians. The college offers 42 higher vocational majors and 36 technical majors covering 9 categories such as aviation equipment, intelligent manufacturing, and electronic information. It has 13 teaching units including the School of Mechanical Engineering, the School of Mechatronics Engineering, the School of Materials and Architectural Engineering, the School of Electronic Information Engineering, the School of Management Engineering, the School of Automotive Engineering, the School of Intelligent Manufacturing, the School of Modern Services, the School of Food Engineering, the School of Marxism, the School of Continuing Education and Training, the Department of Basic Courses, and the Department of Military, Physical Education and Art.

The school is an excellent institution in the talent training work level evaluation of higher vocational colleges by the Ministry of Education, a pilot unit of the third batch of modern apprenticeship system by the Ministry of Education, one of the first national skill foundation engineering training bases and integrated teacher training bases by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, a vocational education training base for military-specific types of work in the national defense science and technology industry, a national high-skilled talent training base, a provincial demonstration higher vocational college, a provincial "Double High Plan" professional group construction institution, and a high-skilled talent training base of Aviation Industry.

The school gives full play to the industrial advantages of Aviation Industry, closely integrates education with the industry and the school with enterprises, and deeply integrates the talent training chain with the industrial chain.
