

Located in Puyang City, Henan Province, known as the "Hometown of Chinese Dragons" and "Imperial Capital of China", Puyang Medical College was founded in 1951. It has evolved from a secondary vocational school to a junior college, and launched higher vocational education in May 2017.
The college covers nearly 1,000 mu of land developed in two phases. At present, its total construction area reaches 197,000 square meters. A second-phase construction project of 100,000 square meters is planned to realize the scale of "a thousand-mu campus with ten thousand students". It has 750 full-time teachers, among whom 448 hold intermediate and senior professional titles. The college offers 27 majors including Clinical Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Preventive Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Rehabilitation Therapy Technology, and Medical Equipment Maintenance and Management, recruiting students from 23 provinces such as Henan, Hebei, Shanxi and Sichuan. It comprises 12 teaching schools and departments including the School of Clinical Medicine and School of Nursing, and has built 11 experimental and training centers covering clinical medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, preventive medicine, acupuncture and moxibustion, nursing, midwifery, etc. The total value of teaching and research equipment stands at nearly 120 million yuan, and the library houses almost 1.18 million volumes of books.
The college has 2 directly affiliated hospitals and more than 60 teaching and internship hospitals. The First Affiliated Hospital under construction is designed in accordance with the standards of Grade A Tertiary Hospitals with an investment of nearly 2 billion yuan, and its main structure has been completed. The Second Affiliated Hospital (Puyang No.3 People’s Hospital) is a Grade A Secondary General Hospital.
In recent years, following the strategic arrangements of the Henan Provincial Department of Education and the CPC Puyang Municipal Committee and Puyang Municipal People’s Government, the college adheres to the school motto of "Advocating Virtue, Promoting Medicine, Pursuing Scholarship and Practicing Earnestly". Targeting at upgrading to an undergraduate institution during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, it fully implements the action plan of "Five Education Simultaneously" and the construction tasks of the "Five Major Systems". The college has issued documents including the Implementation Plan for Strengthening and Improving Moral Education in the New Era and fully carried out the "Five Education Simultaneously" action plan. Three courses were selected into the 2023 Project of High-quality Online Open Courses for Vocational Education and Continuing Education in Henan Province. Laboratory Safety Access Tutorial for Medical Colleges, compiled by faculty of the college, has been listed among the first national vocational education textbooks of the 14th Five-Year Plan. Medical Genetics has been recognized as one of the first Henan provincial textbooks of the 14th Five-Year Plan. The college’s Teaching Team for Ideological and Political Education in Traditional Chinese Medicine Courses has been accredited as the third batch of "Huang Danian-style Teaching Teams in Henan Universities" for higher vocational colleges. The college strengthens the introduction and cultivation of talents, vigorously fosters double-qualified teachers, and has obtained approval for one Henan Provincial Inheritance and Innovation Platform for Technical Skills of Double-qualified Teachers.

Guided by the development concept of "Medicine +", it has conducted exchanges and negotiations with Puyang Academy of Sciences, Professor Kong Dexing’s team from Zhejiang University, Chongqing University of Technology, Chongqing Shenghai Technology Co., Ltd., and reached consensus on developing mathematical medicine disciplines (Smart Medicine) and establishing the School of Mathematical Medicine. Focusing on cultivating technical and skilled personnel, the college strives to develop high-tech specialty groups covering smart medical care, medical equipment maintenance, midwifery and so on. Proactively adapting to emerging technologies and new business forms, it has built industrial colleges in cooperation with Weigao, Xiangyu and a Medical Consortium. It also runs joint education programs with Nilai University in Malaysia to build an international platform for talent training.
