Pu`er University

Education History: Pu 'er university is a general undergraduate university in Yunnan Province. It was founded in 1977 and began to recruit students in 1978. It has a history of 44 years.

Orientation: Combining with the fact that the university is located in the ethnic minority areas in the southwest border of China, the university has put forward the orientation of "applied, local, national and international".

The university scale: The university covers an area of 2053 mu, of which 524 mu has been constructed, with a building area of 235,500 square meters. A further 1,529 acres are being planned and designed. The university has 93 experimental and training bases, 176 off-campus practice and training bases, including 4 key laboratories and engineering research centers of the Department of Education and 6 provincial and ministerial scientific research platforms. There are 691 faculty members, including 50 senior professional titles, 149 associate senior professional titles, 61 doctors, and 438 masters. There are 26 distinguished professors of Cheungkong Scholars, selected members of the National High-level Talents Program, teachers with special subsidies from The State Council, teachers with special subsidies from the provincial government, Yunling Scholars, Yunling Famous teachers and other talents. The university now has 11,022 full-time students.

Disciplines: The university has 17 secondary universitys, 42 undergraduate majors, 30 junior majors, and 2 academician workstations (Academician Fu Bojie workstation, Academician John Cobb workstation). Among the 42 undergraduate majors, landscape architecture has been selected into the first batch of national Education and training Program for Outstanding Agricultural and Forestry Talents. There are 8 C majors (Fine Arts, History, Cooking and Nutrition Education, Hotel management, tea, Agronomy, Digital Media Technology, Chinese Language Education). It has established 5 key majors (History, Fine Arts, Biological sciences, landscape architecture, hotel management) and 9 characteristic majors (primary education, Physical education, Physics, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, English, Lao language, Food quality and safety, Cooking and Nutrition education, tea).

Achievements: In the 44 years since its establishment, the university has sent more than 60,000 professionals to the society, emerging advanced examples such as Sang Lei, the "most beautiful village teacher" in China, and Li Jinlian, a deputy to the 13th National People's Congress. In recent years, there have been 10 national research projects, 54 provincial and ministerial research projects, 58 authorized patents and 8 scientific research awards at or above provincial level. The Report on the Development of China's Catering Industry (Blue Book of Catering Industry), co-compiled with the World Federation of Chinese Catering Industry, has been selected as the "Innovation Project Academic Publication Project of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences" for four consecutive years. It has been awarded as Yunnan Provincial Model university of university Spirit, Teaching spirit and Learning Spirit Construction, Yunnan Provincial Typical Experience university of Innovation and entrepreneurship, Yunnan Provincial Model university of Ethnic Unity Education, Yunnan Provincial Civilized Campus, etc.

In order to strengthen the construction of the National University, Pu`er University established the ASEAN College, was approved as a Chinese education base in Yunnan Province, and established Chinese Language and Culture Centers in Laos and Thailand. Actively carry out the education of foreign students, send a total of 730 students to study abroad, and recruit a total of 561 international students. The number of international students in Laos ranks among the top in the country. Two phases of civil servant skills training were held for Laos, and 48 people were trained. Every year, international exchange projects such as the Chinese speech contest in Northern Thailand and the Lancang-Mekong Education Cooperation Forum are held regularly, and the social influence continues to expand. The school of Shanghairanking "China's Best University Rankings—Student Internationalization Ranking" ranks about 50 among more than 500 colleges and universities, and ranks second in Yunnan Province.
