Panzhihua University is the only comprehensive undergraduate college in the Southwest of Sichuan Province and Northwest of Yunnan Province. It is located in Panzhihua city, the only excellent tourist city named after the flower kapok,known for abundant vanadium and titanium, opulent sunshine, and it is a health resort and an important way to the South Countries.

There are complete disciplines and distinct features.The university is one of the 100 application-oriented universities in China. Several distinctive schools have been established in recent years,the first School of Health Care in China in 2016, the first Education School of Socialist Theory with Chinese Characteristics in 2017, and the School of Vanadium and Titanium in 2018. It offers 52 bachelor programs and41 associate degree programs, within these areas are a wide range of programs covering nine branches, namely, science, engineering, literature,laws, economics, management, medicine, fine arts and agriculture,covering higher common education, higher vocational education, secondary vocational education, and adult higher education. There is one national-level characteristic major, one national-level comprehensive reform pilot project, thirteen province-level and ministerial-level advantage majors, seven provincial-level characteristic majors, three provincial-level applied model majors, three provincial-level comprehensive reform pilot programs, twelve provincial-level outstanding talent training programs, and eleven provincial-level quality courses. In 2016, it was chosen to be in the list of “Education Department • Zhongxing ICT Production and Education Integration Innovation Project”.

There are 1093 brilliant teaching and administrative staff, in which, the full-time teachers are 803, the persons with senior professional and technical posts are363, accounting for45.21% of the total full-time teachers, and people with doctor and master degrees are 624, accounting for 77.71% of full-time teachers, 1 professor getting the State Council special government experts allowance, 2 provincial academic and technical leaders, 1 provincial expert with outstanding contribution, 15 provincial academic and technical backup professors, and 119 municipal academic and technical leaders and backup men.

The education system is complete and the results are remarkable. There are more than 16,000 full-time undergraduate students, postgraduate students and overseas students, and more than 1,500students in secondary technical schools. In recent years, the graduation rate and degree awarding rate of undergraduates have been kept above 90%, and the satisfaction rate of the employers to the graduates has been kept above 96%. It has been awarded as “an excellent unit for employment of college graduates in sichuan province” for many years. The university attaches great important on the students’ innovation and enterprises ability training, then some organizations are founded for it such as the Entrepreneurship Academy, the college students' innovative undertaking clubs, college students' science and technology business incubator park, etc. And some honors have been gained such as “The first batch university graduates entrepreneurial demonstration park of Sichuan province”. Since the 12th five-year plan (2011-2015), more than 500undergraduate innovation experimental projects have been set up, directly benefiting more than 3,000 students, and 122 student entrepreneurship projects have been incubated. 37 enterprises have been successfully incubated, and over500 students have been employed. Students have made many achievements in various discipline competitions and innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, and won 1020 provincial and ministerial level or higher level discipline competitions, including 3 international level awards and 491national awards. In 2014, they won the first prize in the American college students mathematical modeling contest, and in 2015, they won the first prize in the college of national college students mobile Internet entrepreneurship competition.

The university attaches great importance to scientific research and has achieved fruitful results. It is model unit of intellectual property cultivation, the first batch pilot universities of encouraging scientific and technological personnel innovation, and the first pilot one that the scientific and technical achievement of the unit can be transformed by the individual in Sichuan province. There are 41 municipal scientific research platform, including 1 national vanadium and titanium examination key laboratory, 1 national vanadium titanium incubator, and 25 provincial key laboratory, such as the lab about vanadium and titanium resources comprehensive utilization, and 14 municipal scientific research platform such as the key laboratory of rock ore, etc. Since the 12th five-year plan(2011-2015), it has undertaken five state-level research projects, 152provincial-level and ministerial-level research projects, with a total of 1,355projects at various levels and a total fees of 72.93 million Yuan. It has won113 provincial and municipal awards for scientific and technological achievements, 1637 patents licensing. Furthermore, it has published over 8175academic papers at home and abroad, as well as more than 301 academic monographs and textbooks. In the fields of the new material of vanadium and titanium, development of biological resources and solar energy technology, 26scientific and technological achievements have been transformed, with an output value of 500 million Yuan.

PZHU has been attaching great importance to exchange and corporation and established partnership with many overseas colleges and universities in America, Britain,Canada, Thailand, and the domestic universities such as Sichuan University, the University of Electronic Science and Technology, the Southwest University, Xihua University, etc. we also cooperate with some Southeast Asian and South Asian countries to carry out overseas student training, cultural exchange and scientific research exchanges, 8 Laotian students have completed their studies and graduated successfully, and in 2017, 51 students from Pakistan and other countries in clinical medicine were enrolled. In 2018, the School of International Education (international exchange and cooperation department) is founded, which will further promote the school to be more international.

The university should be guided by the quality of practical personnel as its core, by corp orating with the industry following the trend of transformation to promote personnel training,scientific research, social services, cultural inheritance and innovation,international exchanges and cooperation through practicing the educational policy, adapting to the new normal economic development, integrating into the development of industry transformation and upgrading and innovation.
