The school closely focuses on the development of pillar industries in Ningbo, providing powerful talents and scientific and technological guarantee for local economic and social development. To promote the integration of production and education, in 2017, the school established "Zhejiang Branch of National Modern Service Vocational Education Group" and "Ningbo Modern Service Vocational Education Group". The school has made full use of the construction achievements of 9 Industry-University-Research Union, 4 industrial colleges, 6 political schools or school-enterprise joint research institutes and 2 industry steering committees, focused on cultivating high-quality applied talents with technical skills, made positive contributions in serving economic construction and social development, and was selected as the training unit of the national demonstration vocational education group. "Zhejiang Landscaping Application Technology Collaborative Innovation Center" was approved as the construction project of Zhejiang Application Technology Collaborative Innovation Center; Ningbo Leisure Tourism Development Collaborative Innovation Center won Ningbo Exhibition Industry Special Contribution Award; The science and technology team won the excellent local science and technology service innovation team and excellent science and technology correspondent team in Ningbo. "Ningbo Urban Development Strategy Research Base" has become a social science research base in Ningbo, and the school training center has become a demonstration base for continuing education of professional and technical personnel in Ningbo.
The school actively serves the national "the belt and road initiative" strategy, takes the lead in setting up a Sino-foreign cooperatively-run school, and leads the province in the comprehensive level of internationalization. Since 2011, Ningbo TAFE College, the first non-independent legal person in Zhejiang Province, has been established in cooperation with TAFE College in Western Sydney, Australia. Up to now, more than 1,600 students have obtained double diplomas between China and Australia, with an acquisition rate of over 97%, and 108 teachers have obtained TAE vocational course teaching qualification in Australia and ADA teaching ability certification in Germany. The school has jointly established Silk Road Artisan College and Montenegrin Language and Culture Center with Siam Institute of Technology in Thailand and Adriatic University in Montenegro. Two projects, "Tourism Vocational Skills Training" and "Vocational Skills Upgrading of Zhongtai Silk Road Artisan College", which are aimed at the training of overseas personnel and international students in China, have won the "Silk Road 1+1" Education Foreign Aid Project of the Ministry of Education. According to the statistics in the Ranking of Internationalization Level of Zhejiang Colleges and Universities, the overall ranking of internationalization level of the school in recent five years is firmly in the top three of Zhejiang Higher Vocational Colleges.
