

Nanchang Medical College, located in the beautiful heroic city of Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, is a full-time ordinary undergraduate medical college integrating teaching, medical care and scientific research, which is established by the People's Government of Jiangxi Province, administratively supervised by the Health Commission of Jiangxi Province and professionally guided by the Department of Education of Jiangxi Province, and approved by the Ministry of Education. It mainly cultivates high-quality applied and technical skilled talents needed for economic and social development.
In 2020, to address the shortcomings of medical education in the post-pandemic era, accelerate the construction of a strong public health system, and better enhance people's health and well-being, the Jiangxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and the provincial government decided to re-establish Nanchang Medical College, with Jiangxi Provincial People's Hospital, Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology College, and Jiangxi Health Vocational College as the main bodies. In January 2021, the Ministry of Education officially approved the establishment of Nanchang Medical College. In September 2021, Nanchang Medical College recruited its first batch of students from 30 provinces and municipalities across the country. In January 2022, it was approved as a planned construction unit for new master's degree awarding institutions in Jiangxi Province during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
The university has two campuses: Xianghu Campus and Jiulonghu New Campus. The planned and under-construction modern, intelligent, ecological and beautiful new campus is located in Jiulonghu, Honggutan District, Nanchang City, covering an area of 854 mu. The university has 5 directly affiliated tertiary hospitals, 4 non-directly affiliated tertiary hospitals, and 1 non-directly affiliated blood research institute; it has 8 national-level research platforms and 47 provincial-level research platforms; it has 3 "Academician Workstations", 1 "Master Studio" of the Ministry of Education, 1 "Course-based Ideological and Political Education Demonstration Project" of the Ministry of Education, 1 national-level "Dual-qualified Teacher Training Base", and 4 provincial-level "Master Studios". There are 124 training laboratories and 9 school-enterprise co-built training bases (centers), and another 177 practical teaching bases across the country. Currently, there are 12,735 full-time undergraduate students on campus.
The school has a teaching staff that combines full-time and part-time members, with excellent qualities and high academic and teaching research capabilities. Currently, there are 757 full-time teachers at the main campus, among whom 424 have master's degrees and 206 have doctoral degrees; 316 have senior professional titles or above. Four new provincial-level teaching innovation teams have been added. As of November 2024, the school's teachers have won 5 national-level scientific research awards and 43 provincial-level scientific research awards, have hosted 171 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and have participated in or hosted 1,597 provincial and ministerial-level scientific research projects; they have published 1,156 high-quality research papers in SCI. The school has invited Mr. Chen Fen'er, a distinguished alumnus of Nanchang Medical College, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a renowned expert in organic chemical raw material drug manufacturing in China, a doctoral supervisor and professor at Fudan University, to serve as the honorary president of Nanchang Medical College. At the same time, the school has established university-level cooperative relations with medical colleges such as Peking Union Medical College, jointly promoting the construction of Nanchang Medical College as a high-level demonstration application-oriented medical university.
The university has 13 teaching departments, including the Clinical Medical College, Stomatology College, School of Public Health, College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, School of Nursing, School of Health Management, School of Pharmacy, School of Laboratory Medicine, School of Medical Imaging, School of Marxism, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Higher Vocational College, and Department of Public Courses. It offers 19 undergraduate programs such as Clinical Medicine, Preventive Medicine, Stomatology, Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture and Tuina, Pharmacy, Chinese Materia Medica, Nursing, Midwifery, Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Imaging Technology, Rehabilitation Therapy, Stomatology Technology, Intelligent Imaging Engineering, Elderly Care Management, Public Administration, Marketing, and Insurance, covering disciplines such as medicine, management, and economics. It has formed a professional cluster of "medicine, pharmacy, nursing, technology, and management" that is in line with the development of health and medical care in the province and the region.

In July 2021, the college's English teaching team won the second prize in the semi-finals of the "Teaching Star" competition (undergraduate English group) organized by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press. In December 2021, it was awarded two projects of the second batch of industry-university cooperation and collaborative education projects of the Ministry of Education.
