Founded in 1956, Karamay Vocational & Technical College (Karamay Polytechnic) is a general higher vocational college specializing in engineering and offering both engineering and liberal arts. The college operates in Dushanzi and Karamay. Among them, Dushanzi campus covers an area of 1022.6 mu, building area of 196,000 square meters; Karamay Campus shares campus resources with China University of Petroleum (Beijing) Karamay Campus and Xinjiang Technician Training College. The campus covers a total area of 7200 mu, with a building area of 645,000 square meters. The fixed assets are 320 million yuan (excluding the infrastructure of Karamay Campus), and the teaching experiment and training equipment assets are 99.9548 million yuan.

The college now has more than 11,000 full-time students. The college has more than 400 students, and it trains more than 2500 employees annually.
