Jining University is a full-time undergraduate university in the province, located in Qufu, the world's most famous historical and cultural city, the birthplace of Confucianism, the hometown of Confucius and the Holy City of the East. It was founded in 1951 as the Tengxian District Cadre Cultural Supplementary university, formerly known as the Jining Normal College, and was upgraded to Jining College in March 2007 with the approval of the Ministry of Education.

The university is rooted in the hometown of Confucius and Mencius, and bathes in the Confucian style of the Holy Land. The university is blessed with the resources of Confucianism and red culture. The campus of the College of Elementary Education (formerly Qufu Normal university) is located in the old city of Qufu, with the Confucius Temple to the west and the Confucius Mansion to the north, a unique geographical location and a superior humanistic environment. The library has a paper collection of 1.93 million books, more than 1.03 million e-books, 2.05 million e-journals, 10.01 million excellent master's and doctoral theses, and 41 databases of electronic resources are subscribed. The university has perfect modern teaching facilities and laboratory equipment, and the total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment is RMB 151 million.
