Jinggangshan University is located in Ji'an City, the cradle of the Chinese Revolution and the location of Jinggangshan Mountain, which is known as the "Southern Watch County" and is known as the "State of Essay and Righteousness". The university was founded in 1958, and after several mergers and name changes, it was renamed Jinggangshan University in 2007, and is now a university jointly supported by the People's Government of Jiangxi Province and the Ministry of Education, a university supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology in consultation with the People's Government of Jiangxi Province, and a university supported by Tongji University.
