Jiaxing Nanhu University

  Jiaxing Nanhui University is a full-time ordinary undergraduate institution of higher learning approved by the Ministry of Education of China and established by the Jiaxing Municipal People's Government. Its predecessor was the Nanhui College of Jiaxing University, which was founded in 2003. In December 2020, the university successfully underwent transformation, being named after the "Jiaxing Nanhui", which is the starting point of the Red Boat of the Chinese Revolution. It became the first application-oriented undergraduate university in Zhejiang Province to complete the transformation of an independent college, and was selected as an application-oriented education pilot school for artificial intelligence in Zhejiang Province and a pilot unit for educational reform with the assistance of artificial intelligence.
  The school is located in the main urban area of Jiaxing, covering an area of 900 mu (including 200 mu of planned land). It has a collection of over 1.05 million physical books and over 750,000 electronic books. It is divided into 13 secondary teaching units and admits students from 25 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions) across the country. There are 31 majors, with over 70% of them being engineering-related, covering six disciplines: engineering, economics, management, literature, law, and art. The discipline and professional settings are highly matched with the regional industries, with 2 provincial first-class disciplines, 5 provincial first-class professional construction points, 2 provincial key experimental teaching demonstration centers, and 4 municipal key laboratories. Currently, there are 9,000 full-time undergraduate students and over 690 faculty members, including over 470 full-time teachers. The proportion of doctoral holders is 44%, with experts enjoying the State Council's special allowances, national teaching awards winners, Zhejiang Province's 151 first-level talents, and Zhejiang Province's Zhijiang Young Scholar. Teachers have been included in the global Top 2% list of top scientists in the field of industrial engineering and automation for three consecutive years from 2022 to 2024.
  The school adheres to an application-oriented approach and open education, fully implementing the integrated strategy of education, science and technology, and talents. Focusing on the "135N" industrial cluster orientation of Jiaxing, the school uses the 166 reform task list as a handle, leveraging its "rooting" advantages, establishing majors in the main industrial chains and leading clusters of Jiaxing, and jointly building modern industrial (talent) colleges with Xiujiang District, Nanzhou District, Qiaogang District, Haining City, and the City Construction Decoration Industry Association, etc. It has created a "four-in-one" deep cooperation model of "high-end research platform in Jiaxing + school teaching units + local industrial clusters + industry leading enterprises". The "Electric Power Equipment Specialized and Innovative Industry College" has been approved as the first batch of "Specialized and Innovative Industry Colleges" by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the "Jiaxing Nanhui College Photovoltaic College" has been approved as a key modern industry college construction point in Zhejiang Province. A base for the inheritance and innovation of excellent traditional Chinese culture and new liberal arts comprehensive reform has been established, and the first national language model of Chinese excellent family traditions has been established. Family tradition research has been used as a driving force for the innovation of new liberal arts. A horizontal cooperation platform between the city and the university has been established, including 13 research centers such as the National Reform Pilot Research Center for Science and Technology Innovation and the Zhejiang Tsinghua Flexible Electronics Technology Research Institute. Comprehensive cooperation has been carried out with research institutions and new research and development organizations such as the China Electronics Technology Nanhui Research Institute, the Zhejiang Tsinghua Flexible Electronics Technology Research Institute, the Beijing Institute of Technology's Nanhui Research Institute, the China Electronics Technology Nanhui Research Institute, the Nanhui Laboratory, and the Jiaxing Institute of Southern University of Science and Technology. Teachers and students have been included in the teams of academicians and major laboratory platforms, and comprehensive measures have been taken to empower the new quality productive forces of Jiaxing. The school has obtained the qualification for international student recruitment and has carried out various forms of exchange student training. It has established strategic cooperative relationships with overseas universities in Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand.
  Over the past 25 years of undergraduate education, the school has cultivated over 50,000 high-quality applied talents for society, significantly enhancing its social influence and reputation. In recent years, students have won over 1,800 awards at provincial-level and above competitions. Among them, over 900 awards have been obtained at A-level subject competitions such as the China International University Students' Innovation Competition, the National "Challenge Cup" Competition, the National University Students' Mathematical Modeling Competition, and the National University Students' Robot Competition. 140 national university innovation training projects have been approved. Students in the law major have a pass rate of over 40% for the national legal professional qualification examination. A number of advanced individuals and advanced collectives, such as the "Strong Nation Generation New Youth", "National Self-Motivated Star", and "Zhejiang Volunteer Advanced Individual", have emerged. The traditional art martial arts program "Nanhui Ship Fist" has appeared at the opening ceremony of the 19th Asian Games. China Education News published "A Record of the Exploration of Development of Applied University by Jiaxing Nanhui University", Guangming Daily reported "Jiaxing Nanhui University: Build 'Small but Precise' Professional Groups on the Industrial Chain", China Youth Daily published a long article on the original drama "Nanhui • 1921", "Yu Chenfei Meets Xiaohuang" was broadcast on CCTV, and original videos such as "How Young People Act in China Is How China Act" and "The Song of Liang Jiahe Suite" were reprinted and reported by mainstream media such as CCTV, China Youth Daily, and Learning Power. 
  The school focuses on the main line of "red genes, innovative development, collaborative win-win, and fostering virtue and cultivating talents", implements the three major development strategies of "Red Boat Leading University", "Urban Symbiotic University", and "Industrial Partner University", promotes the "1226" construction project, vigorously promotes the great founding spirit and Red Boat spirit, practices the school motto of "Adhering to the Righteousness and Innovation, Seeking Truth and Striving Forward", and works hard to run a university that satisfies the people.

  The school is located in Jiaxing, which is situated in the southeast coastal area and the central part of the Yangtze River Delta. It enjoys a unique geographical advantage and a vibrant economy. Jiaxing is the birthplace of the Red Boat of the Chinese Revolution, the cradle of Jiangnan culture, the permanent venue of the World Internet Conference, and a pioneer in promoting coordinated urban-rural development. It is also a demonstration area for comprehensive integration with Shanghai in Zhejiang Province and a model city for high-quality development and building a moderately prosperous society in all respects. It is now striving to become an important central city in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration.
  The school adheres to the goal of becoming a first-class applied undergraduate university in China, the direction of "engineering as the main focus, with a combination of liberal arts and sciences", and the idea of "small but excellent, small but beautiful, small but superior". It has systematically constructed a talent cultivation pyramid system featuring "refined disciplines, broad specialties, and solid foundations". Through a series of measures such as optimizing the layout of disciplines and specialties, creating the "Hundred Teachers, Hundred Courses" program, enhancing organized teaching and research capabilities, establishing the "Nanh Lake Certificate" education system, and implementing a full-time mentorship system, the school continuously improves the quality of applied talent cultivation. In recent years, the initial employment rate of graduates has remained stable at around 94%, with the employment rate of engineering majors exceeding 98%. Over the past three years, the proportion of students passing the postgraduate entrance examination has doubled, reaching 15% for the 2025 graduating class. A large number of students have been admitted to top universities both at home and abroad, including Zhejiang University, Sun Yat-sen University, Xiamen University, and overseas institutions such as the University of Sydney, Monash University, and the Royal College of Art.
