Jiangxi University of Engineering was founded in October 1983, and has gone through the university-running stages of Xinyu Radio Training Course, Jiangxi Yuzhou Institute of Electronics Industry, Jiangxi Yuzhou Institute of Electronics Industry. In 2001, approved by the People's Government of Jiangxi Province and filed by the Ministry of Education, Jiangxi Yuzhou Vocational College of Science and Technology was established and became an ordinary higher vocational college. Approved by the Ministry of Education in 2014, it was upgraded to a general undergraduate college and renamed Jiangxi Institute of Technology. In 2018, it was added as a bachelor degree-granting unit.
