Jiangxi Polytechnic University
Jiangxi Polytechnic University is located in Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, and is a full-time general higher education institution approved by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. It is a national exemplary higher vocational college, a nationally high-quality specialized higher vocational college, a pilot institution for the construction of "High-level Vocational Schools with Chinese Characteristics," a Jiangxi Province project institution for "High-level Higher Vocational Colleges and Advantageous Specialty Programs," and one of the first pilot institutions in Jiangxi Province for the joint training of application-oriented undergraduate talents.
The university was founded in 1960, formerly known as Jiujiang Shipbuilding Industrial School, and it has successively been affiliated with the First, Third, and Sixth Ministries of Machinery Industry and the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation. In 1999, the school was transferred from the management of the Commission for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense to the Jiangxi Provincial People’s Government and was upgraded and renamed Jiujiang Vocational and Technical College, becoming a higher vocational college directly under the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Education. On June 14, 2024, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of Jiangxi Polytechnic University based on Jiujiang Vocational and Technical College.
As of April 2025, the university has two campuses, Shili and Lianxi, covering more than 1,700 mu, with a building area of over 580,000 square meters, and total value of teaching instruments and equipment exceeding 300 million yuan. The total number of library resources amounts to over 2.3 million volumes, and the total original value of assets exceeds 2 billion yuan. The university comprises 8 secondary colleges and 4 teaching departments, offering 58 undergraduate and junior college programs. It has over 18,000 full-time students and more than 1,100 faculty and staff members.
