Jiangsu Urban and Rural Construction College

Jiangsu Vocational College of Urban and Rural Construction is located in the pearl of the South of the Yangtze River and the capital of new energy - Changzhou. It is a public full-time general higher education institution affiliated to the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Jiangsu Province. It is a construction unit of a high-level vocational school with Chinese characteristics in Jiangsu Province. The college was formerly known as "Jiangsu Urban Construction School", which was founded in 1986, and "Changzhou Construction Workers University", which was founded in 1979. In February 2015, approved by the People's Government of Jiangsu Province, the two universities merged to form Jiangsu Urban and Rural Construction Vocational College. There are two campuses, Yincun and Qingtan, of which Yincun Campus is located in Changzhou Zhonglou District Yincun Vocational Education Park and Yu Road No. 1.

The College actively ADAPTS to the needs of the development of the industry and continuously optimizes the internal organization. The school has 11 teaching units, including the School of Architectural Art, the School of Civil Engineering, the School of Management Engineering, the School of Public Utilities, the School of Equipment Engineering, the Department of Ideological and Political Affairs (the School of Marxism), the Department of Physical Education, the Department of Basic Education, the School of Continuing Education, the School of International Education, and the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education, with nearly 13,000 students.

The College deeply promotes the comprehensive and strict governance of the Party, continuously strengthens the overall leadership of the Party, deeply promotes the construction of "One integration and two highs", continuously improves the creativity, cohesion and combat effectiveness of the Party organization, and insists on high-quality party building leading high-quality development. The College currently consists of School of Architectural Art, School of Civil Engineering, School of Management Engineering, School of Public Utilities, School of Equipment Engineering, School of Continuing Education, Department of Basic Course , Department of Ideological and Political Education, and Department of Sports, and offers 37 three-year majors and 17 five-year majors for students. There are more than 9,000 full-time students, and more than 500 full-time and part-time teachers.

The school takes "Mingzhi, Duxing" as the motto which means clear aspiration and sincere behaviour, and adheres to philosophy of “pursue virtue and ability, unite knowledge and action, achieve all-round development”. Consistently rooted in morality education, its mission is to facilitate development with the focus on employment promotion. Persisting in school-enterprise cooperation and work-study combination, the school has trained nearly 30,000 highly skilled talents for the development of urban and rural construction since the school started. The employment rate of students has been stable at over 98%.

The campus is fully covered with green architectural complex which has traditional construction style of the southern Yangtze River with white walls and black tiles. It’s also a smart campus of "integration of theory and practice, functional integration and information sharing" with exemplary, vocational and contemporary characteristics. All the buildings of the college have been awarded the National Green Building Design Label, which enables the campus to be the first “Green Building and Building Energy Efficiency Demonstration Zone” in the name of school in Jiangsu Province.In 2015, it won the only first prize of “Jiangsu Green Building Innovation Award”.

The school has been awarded with several honors such as the National Advanced Vocational School in vocational guidance work, National Advanced Unit of Vocational Education, Jiangsu Advanced School in Moral Education, Cradle of Highly Skilled Talents of Building Industry in Jiangsu Province and Science Education Base in Jiangsu Province. It is a “Skilled and Urgently-needed Talent Training Program School of the Building Industry” determined by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
