Jiangsu College of Nursing

Jiangsu College of Nursing is a provincial public full-time higher school. The school is located in Huai’an, a famous historic city with the unique culture resource and a profound medical culture, and the hometown of Zhou Enlai, a great statesman, where had a reputation of “ Tianyi Star is located in Huaiyin” during the dynasties of Tang and Song.

Rooted in this fertile soil of medicine, we keep developing and growing, which is from the Nursing College of Huaiyin Mercy Hospital (the predecessor of Qingjiang People’s Hospital) established in 1915, to Huaiyin Medical School established in 1958, and to the Jiangsu College of Nursing approved to establish in 2014.

We have the standard management, and the quality is well-known inside and outside of the province. Our graduates are welcomed and praised by the employers. And the employment rate has remained above 99% for many years.

After entering the school, all students can obtain their undergraduate diplomas by taking part in self-teaching examinations, and also can attend universities by top-up courses at graduation.

Insisting on “Aiming at the high end, and looking at the world”, we have established a long-term and stable cooperative relationship with Coatbridge College in the UK, where we can send students to study and exchange every year.

We have deep cooperation with some domestic well-known institutions, such as the Second Military Medical University, Shanghai Changzheng Hospital, Shanghai Changhai Hospital, Shanghai Xinhua Hospital, Shanghai Longhua Hospital, Shangai Red House Hospital, and also have signed cooperation agreements in teaching, scientific research, teacher training, and student practice and training.

During the 13th Five-Year Plan, we will establish overseas training bases, overseas learning bases and overseas employment bases at home and abroad, such as in the UK, USA, Germany, Singapore and Taiwan. And also we will accelerate the integration into the mainstream of the international industry, vigorously impel the graduates entering the international market, and strive to achieve the seamless integration with the “High-speed Class” and “Through Train Class” of international nursing.

There are 4 affiliated hospitals, 65 teaching hospitals and nearly 100 practice bases in our school. With the main body of provincial tertiary hospital and the expansion of the well-known hospitals (enterprises) at home and abroad, our school has built the off-campus training bases with full functions, sufficient quantity, wide stationing, and close connection which can fully meet the needs of the personnel training for the three-year higher vocational education in Medicine.

We have two campuses, in the Science and Technology Road and Yellow River Road, covering 570 mu. We have a building area of more than 300,000 square meters, with the beautiful environment, advanced facilities. And our school has four practice centers of Nurse Midwifery, Medical Laboratory Technology, Rehabilitation Technology and Pharmacy and two public and basic experimental training platforms with the area of 40,800 square meters, of which the layout is reasonable, the function is complete and the equipment is advanced.

There are the majors of Nursing, Midwifery, Medical Laboratory Technology, Pharmacy, Rehabilitation Technology, Acupuncture and Massage, Reproductive Health Service and Management, Respiratory Therapy Technology, TCM Rehabilitation Technology, Medicine Service and Management, Pharmaceutical Production Technology and so on. And there are more than 10,000 students now.

The development of more than one hundred years creates the glory of one century.

Here came many famous medical experts, like Cheng Xinnong, who is the arbiter of Acupuncture in the world, the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and one of the first batch of National Medical Masters, and so on.

We have a strong faculty, with more than 500 teaching and administrative staffs. There are a large number of high-level talents among them, such as National Model Teachers, National Vocational Teachers, young academic leaders in the “Blue Project” of Jiangsu Province, and excellent young key teachers.

We has trained tens of thousands of high-quality medical and health professionals for the society and made important contributions to the development of regional economy and society for a long time.

Based on fully tapping the local medical culture resource and combining majors’ characteristics, we elaborately build the Museum, Life Science Center, Nursing Culture Center and Huai Medical Culture Center, closely integrate the campus culture with Huai Medical Culture and industry culture, vigorously advocated the traditional medical spirit of “the Absolute Sincerity of Great Physicians”, the Nightingale Spirit of “heal the wounded and rescue the dying” and the Huai Medical Spirit of “relieving and saving the people”, coordinate and promote cultivating activity education, practice education, culture education.

We always insist on the key link of moral composition and cultivation, running the ideological and political work throughout the whole process of education and teaching, and striving to achieve the whole process and all-round education.

Taking the construction of Jiangsu Nursing College with an advantage of “having influences in the world, leading in its country, and featuring in the province” as our development goal, adhering to the motto of “Protecting and Loving the Life, Self-cultivating and Understanding His Duties”, carrying forward the spirit of “Opening up, Innovating, Uniting”, adhering to the school philosophy of “running the education with conscience, seeking the development with responsibility, creating the brand with wisdom, initiating and implementing the developing strategy of “one body with two wings”, we have attracted the investment and jointly built Jiangsu Nursing College Affiliated Rehabilitation Hospital and the medicinal material industry park of 1000 mu. Also we are striving to open up the new highlands of medical treatment, nursing, medicine and so on, and build the first-class health college.

Jiangsu College of Nursing (JSCN) is located in Huai'an, a famous historical and cultural city and the hometown of Premier Zhou Enlai, a great man in China’s history. The college was founded in 1958 as Huaiyin Medical School; its history can be traced back to the Huaiyin Renci (love and mercy) Hospital Nursing School founded by the American Presbyterian Church in 1915. In December 2014, with the provincial government's approval, China's Ministry of Education recorded the establishment of Jiangsu College of Nursing, which has become a full-time provincial public college since.

The college is now located in Huai’an City’s urban area, Jiangsu Province. It has two campuses, which are on the Huanghe Road and the Keji Road, respectively. The college covers more than 500 mu (33.33 acres) and has 17 majors, including nursing, midwifery, pharmacy, medical examination technology, rehabilitation treatment technology, and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) rehabilitation technology. There are more than 8,000 full-time students and over 700 faculty members. For many consecutive years, the passing rate of the “National Nursing Examination” for our college’s fresh nursing graduates has been over 99%. The employment rate of graduates usually reaches over 98% in the year when they graduate. The school has won dozens of awards, including the first prize in skill competitions among national vocational colleges. Since the establishment of JSCN, the college has trained more than 80,000 high-quality medical and health professionals for society and has made significant contributions to regional economic and social development.
