Huzhou Normal University

Huzhou Normal University is a comprehensive full time undergraduate university with a long history. It began to offer higher education in 1958 and recruited undergraduates in 1994 . In 2012, the university started to recruit master students independently.

The University is located in Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province, which borders Shanghai to the East, Hangzhou to the South, Wuxi and Suzhou to the Northeast and Nanjing to the Northwest. Huzhou is the only city named after Taihu Lake.

Huzhou has a very convenient transportation. It is an important and open city situated in the center of Yangtze River Delta, Huzhou has served as the transportation hub for Shanghai, Hangzhou and Nanjing for a long time. The traffic is very convenient in Huzhou. It owns 4 nation’s first-class highways, and several railways. It only takes 20 minutes to arrive at provincial capital Hangzhou.

The University is located amidst Huzhou’s beautiful scenery, and major metropolises nearby are easily accessible. It has three campuses. It occupies around 257 acres of land. The campus is pleasant and beautiful all year around.

The University is currently organized into fourteen Colleges with 8 affiliated hospitals, 2 Clinical Medical Colleges and 11 affiliated schools. Huzhou University currently offer 16 master programs, 51 bachelor degree programs. The disciplines including Math, Clinic Medical Study and Engineering Study enter ESI 1%.

The University currently has 15,000 full-time students or so in attendance, with around 2,200 master students. At present it has more than 2900 faculty members, including over 800 members with advanced professional titles.

Since 2002, International College of Huzhou University has recruited hundreds of students from The United States, Canada, Korea, Russia, Brazil, Ukraine, Yemen, Bangladesh, Romania, France, the UK, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Mozambique and other countries. The first English-taught Mechanical and Electronic Engineering major started in October, 2015.

To improve foreign student’s Chinese language proficiency and lay the foundation for professional learning, International College provides students with Mandarin preparatory courses in beginner and intermediate levels. Meanwhile, short-term exchange students from a number of foreign countries are welcomed to study at Huzhou University.

After long-term endeavors, International College has formed its own characteristics in international education with small-sized classes, professional teachers, scientific managements and organized activities, and has nurtured a specialized disciplinary faculty team with highly competitive and experienced teachers. Huzhou University offers international students superior accommodation with modern facilities.

Since 2002, Huzhou Normal University has obtained the qualifications for enrolling foreign students. Hundreds of international students from the United States, Britain, South Korea, Russia, Ukraine, Yemen, Romania and other countries have come to our school for exchange and study. In 2012, the first professional international students successfully graduated from our school and obtained a bachelor's degree. In the same year, our school began to recruit the first batch of international students with established academic qualifications; in 2013, the International College was established. At present, the International College is mainly responsible for the teaching and management of foreign students coming to the school, the construction and management of international majors and courses, and the management of Sino-foreign cooperative education projects.

The International College now has preparatory Chinese classes (beginner, intermediate) to improve the Chinese language ability of foreign students and lay the foundation for international students to enter professional studies. At the same time, the college also accepts short-term international students from many countries to exchange and study in our school every year.

After long-term efforts, our foreign student teaching has formed its own characteristics: small class teaching, professional teacher, standardized management, serialized activities, and has formed a discipline structure with reasonable age level, good professional quality, and rich teaching experience. The team of teachers of Chinese international education. Teachers in our school have master's or doctoral degrees, and more than 80% have rich overseas teaching experience. The teachers have made fruitful achievements in the scientific research of Chinese as a second language/foreign language teaching. In recent years, he has published more than 100 papers and more than 10 monographs in journals such as "Language Research", "World Chinese Teaching", "Language Teaching and Research", and "Chinese Learning".
