Hubei University of Education
Hubei Second Normal University of Education, referred to as "Hubei Second Division", is located in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, located in China Optics Valley, is a provincial ordinary undergraduate university with teacher education as the main feature, economics, law, education, literature, science, engineering, management and art and other disciplines coordinated development. The national "Implementation Unit of the Special Action Plan for Talent Training in Key Areas of the Electronic Information Industry" and the main training university of the "Excellent Teacher Plan" in Hubei Province.
Hubei Second Normal University originated from Hubei Provincial College of Education, which was established in 1931. In 1944, it was rebuilt into National Hubei Normal University. In 1949, it was rebuilt as Hubei Provincial College of Education. In 1990, it was renamed Hubei Institute of Education. In 2003, it merged with Hubei Industrial School and moved to Optics Valley Park in the same year. In 2007, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was rebuilt into Hubei Second Normal University. In 2009, the Hubei Provincial Economic Management Cadre College was merged as a whole.
As of November 2025, Hubei Second Normal University covers an area of 1,723 acres and a construction area of 537,600 square meters. There are 14 teaching colleges, 60 general undergraduate majors, and 17,000 full-time students. There are 1,067 full-time teachers, including 401 teachers with senior professional titles. There are 23 national and provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites, and 121 national and provincial first-class courses, high-quality resource sharing courses and famous teacher classrooms.
