HezhouUniversity is a full-time public undergraduate university run by the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is located in Hezhou City, a regional transportation hub at the junction of Guizhou, Xiang and Guangdong provinces (districts) and the first long-lived prefecture-level city in China and the world's long-lived city.

The university was formerly known as Guangxi Provincial Pingle Normal university in 1943, and was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2006 to establish Hezhou College, which passed the qualifying assessment and audit assessment of undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education in 2013 and 2019 respectively. It is one of the first institutions of cooperation between the Ministry of Education and ZTE ICT Industry-Education Integration Innovation Base Project, a member of the "New Engineering" Research and Practice Project of the Ministry of Education, a member of the China Alliance of Applied Technology Universities (Colleges), an A-class construction unit of Guangxi Master's Degree in 2021-2025, a pilot university of Guangxi for overall transformation development, and a member of the Guangxi University of Science and Technology. It is a pilot university in Guangxi for overall transformation development and the first batch of demonstration universities in Guangxi for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform. The university is ranked 85th in the national competition ranking of new undergraduate institutions from 2017 to 2021; it has been listed in the top 500 of "China's best universities" released by Soft Science for four consecutive years (2019-2022), of which 2021 and 2022 are ranked No. 1 in Guangxi. The university has been ranked 9th in Guangxi for four consecutive years (2019-2022).

The university has two campuses in the east and west, covering an area of 1,311.01 mu; the total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment is 259 million yuan, and the collection of paper books is 1,490,300 volumes. There are 53 undergraduate majors and 18 specialist (senior vocational) majors, covering disciplines such as engineering, science, literature, education, art, economics, management, law, agriculture and history. The university has five national-level first-class undergraduate majors in communication engineering, food science and engineering, tourism management, environmental design and radio and television choreography, 11 autonomous regions-level first-class undergraduate majors in engineering management, two Guangxi first-class discipline construction projects in food science and engineering and material science and engineering, five Guangxi undergraduate specialties in civil engineering, 13 autonomous regions-level undergraduate courses in phonetics and phonetics, etc. First-class undergraduate courses, and 2 autonomous region level courses such as "Analysis of Language Curriculum Standards and Teaching Materials", which are model courses for thinking and government. It has won 2 special awards, 6 first-class awards, 7 second-class awards and 14 third-class awards for teaching achievements at the autonomous region level in higher education. There are 21,742 full-time students in the university. The university has been cooperating with 12 universities at home and abroad, including Dalian University of Technology, Guangxi Normal University, Guilin University of Electronic Science and Technology, Guilin University of Technology and Sumy National Agricultural University of Ukraine, in the joint training of master's and doctoral students. There are more than 1,610 teaching staff, more than 1,270 full-time teachers, more than 1,000 teachers with master's and doctoral degrees, more than 380 teachers with associate senior titles or above, and 73 supervisors for master's and doctoral students.

The university insists on open cooperation, deepening the integration of industry, education and city, and cooperation between the university, government and enterprises, and the role of collaborative education platform in the cultivation of applied talents has been fully highlighted. The university has established the first "Phoenix Digital Media College" and "Phoenix ASEAN Media College" in cooperation with Phoenix TV Group and Phoenix Education; "ZTE Information College" in cooperation with ZTE Corporation. "Ltd. to establish the "Xindao College of Economics and Management" and "Xindao College of Innovation and Entrepreneurship"; with Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd.; "Bao Xian Restaurant Management College" with Guangdong Bao Xian Group; "Zheng Feng Eco-Agriculture College" with Guangxi Hezhou Zheng Feng Modern Agriculture Co. Ltd. to build the "Oracle (Guangxi) OAEC Talent Industry Base Hezhou College Centre". The College of Marxism and the College of Journalism were jointly established with the Propaganda Department of Hezhou Municipal Committee; the College of Villages and Towns was jointly established with various counties (districts) in Hezhou; the College of Rural Revitalization was jointly established with Babu District and Zhaoping County in Hezhou; and the Guangxi Cloud-Hezhou Integrated Media College was jointly established with the Propaganda Department of Hezhou Municipal Committee and Guangxi Daily News. The university has three exemplary modern industry colleges for ordinary undergraduate universities in Guangxi, including the College of Modern Industries of Assembly Building, the College of Calcium Carbonate Industries and the College of Modern Industries of Recreation and Tourism.

The university insists on integrating innovation and entrepreneurship education into the whole process of talent cultivation, and the quality of talent cultivation has been steadily improved. The university has a national record of crowdsourcing space, and in 2018, it entered the top 30 universities in South China in the index of entrepreneurship education work. The university has been selected as one of the pilot institutions (departments) of the Ministry of Education for the comprehensive reform of the "three comprehensive education" and two of the first batch of demonstration institutions (departments) of the comprehensive reform of the "three comprehensive education" in universities in the region. The university was awarded 16 national projects for the national summer social practice activities of students, and four students were awarded the title of national outstanding instructors. Students won 352 national awards, including 1 gold, 2 silver and 9 bronze in the China International "Internet+" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the first prize in the National Student Electronic Design Competition and the first prize in the National Student Mathematical Modelling Competition, etc. Among them, the project "Fuyao Weaving Dream" won the sixth China International "Internet+" Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. The project "Fuyao Weaving Dreams" won the gold medal in the national finals of the 6th China International "Internet+" Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and the only "Community Governance Award" in this competition. The university won the Advanced Collective Award for the "Youth Red Dream Journey" activity, achieving a breakthrough of "zero" in terms of gold, individual and collective awards.

The university insists on cultural heritage and innovation, actively develops and protects local ethnic cultural resources, and forms distinctive and effective local ethnic cultural research brands. The university has built a local ethnic culture research centre and has two state-owned museums on record, including the Hezhou Ethnic Culture Museum and the Hezhou Language and Culture Museum. Among them, the Hezhou Ethnic Culture Museum is the first comprehensive state-owned museum in Guangxi universities, and the Hezhou Language and Culture Museum is the first professional physical language museum in China. The Journal of Hezhou College was awarded the National Outstanding Journal of Local Universities and the National Outstanding Social Science Journal of Universities. The Linguistics Research and the Nanling Ethnic Corridor Research were awarded as the featured columns of the national social science journals of colleges and universities.

The university has established inter-university ties or cooperation with more than 30 universities in Thailand, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, Korea, Vietnam, Japan, the United States, Malaysia, Ukraine, Ireland, the Czech Republic and Poland, and has carried out joint doctoral and master's degree programmes with the Sumy State Agricultural University in Ukraine. Forty-one batches of students have been sent abroad for study (internship).
