Hetao College is a comprehensive application-oriented local undergraduate college in the west of Inner Mongolia. Located in the north of the motherland, the Yellow River a few words, the famous Hetao plain.

History: Hetao University, formerly known as Hetao University, was established in 1985 with the approval of the People's Government of the Autonomous Region and put on record by the Ministry of Education. Mr. Chen Liangbi, a famous professor of Economics, was the first president. The founding of the school received the warm care of the Party and state leaders. In 1986, Comrade Ulanfu, then Vice President of the State, wrote the name of the school. In 1996, Mr. Cheng Siyuan, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, visited the university for inspection and guidance. The initial stage of the school was difficult, lack of financial resources, simple buildings, a lack of teachers. In the process of its establishment, it has received strong support and funding from governments at all levels, people from all walks of life and the people of Bayannur.

Entering the new century, the school has experienced the optimization and integration of educational resources twice. 2001 The former Bayan Nuermeng Education College and Bayan Nuermeng Normal School (formerly known as Suiyuan Provincial Lishanba Normal School founded by General Fu Zuoyi in 1943) merged into Hetao University. 2004 The former Inner Mongolia Radio and Television University Bayannao Ermeng Branch School, Bayannao Ermeng Secondary Professional School of Finance and Trade, Bayannao Ermeng Health School, Bayannao Ermeng Secondary Professional School of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, and Inner Mongolia Linhe Water Conservancy School were merged into Hetao University.

In 2012, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Hetao University was upgraded to a regular undergraduate university and renamed as Hetao College. It implements a two-level management system of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Bayannur City, with the administration of the autonomous region as the main one. At the same time, the municipal Party committee and the government of Bayannaoer proposed to make the whole city's efforts to run Hetao College well. Under the circumstance of financial difficulties, the city invested 1.028 billion yuan to build a new campus (Shuanghe Campus) on the bank of the Yellow River. By the end of 2018, it was completed and put into use. In 2016, the college was authorized to confer bachelor's degrees, and in the same year, it was approved by the People's Government of the Autonomous region as an overall transformation pilot university. On August 21, 2019, Mr. Bu Xiaolin, Chairman of the Autonomous Region, visited the college to guide its work. In 2020, the College successfully passed the undergraduate teaching assessment of the Ministry of Education, and the development of the college has entered a new stage. On March 16, 2021, Shi Taifeng, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Autonomous Region, visited Hetao University for investigation, and pointed out the direction for the college to serve the local economic and social development and build a high-quality application-oriented university with characteristics.

School conditions: The college covers an area of 1,04798 mu, with a total construction area of 438,400 square meters, and the total value of teaching and research equipment is 19.9286,800 yuan. It has a collection of 1,037,000 paper books, 402,000 electronic books and 29 Chinese and foreign language databases.

Scale of establishment: The College consists of 14 teaching departments and Schools of Continuing Education. There are 10376 full-time students, including 9501 undergraduates, accounting for 91.57% of the total number of students; There were 2,417 ethnic minority students, accounting for 23.29% of the total number of students.

Faculty: The college now has 972 faculty and staff. There were 579 full-time teachers, among whom 42 held senior positions and 268 held deputy senior positions. 53.54% of the full-time teachers were senior positions. There are 35 teachers with doctor's degree and 379 teachers with master's degree. The teachers with master's degree or above account for 71.5% of the full-time teachers. There were 121 dual teachers, accounting for 20.89% of the full-time teachers. There are 11 teaching teams at the autonomous region level, 13 teaching masters and 9 teaching rookies.

Teaching Construction: The College offers 35 undergraduate programs, which are distributed in 9 disciplines, such as literature, Science, agriculture, engineering, education, management, economics, art and medicine. Now there are 13 autonomous region-level brand specialties, 6 autonomous region-level first-class specialties, and 10 specialties jointly built by industry and education. There are 21 quality courses and 10 open online courses at the autonomous region level. The university has 63 quality courses and 61 open online courses. It has been approved 3 national teaching research projects, 2 new agriculture research and reform projects of Ministry of Education, and 13 industry-school cooperative education projects of Ministry of Education. 2 experimental teaching demonstration centers of autonomous region, 5 teaching achievement awards, 73 teaching research projects; The university has initiated 322 teaching research projects and published 826 teaching research papers. In the past three years, students have won 31 national awards and 348 awards at the autonomous region level.

Scientific research: The School has set up 8 research platforms at the autonomous region level, including 1 academician workstation, 2 key laboratories, 2 engineering technology research centers, 2 key research bases of humanities and social sciences, and 1 innovation fostering team. 20 university-level research platforms; 12 doctoral workstations. The university has 6 key disciplines and 2 key cultivation disciplines. The pilot project of "Ecological Protection and Restoration of Mountains, Rivers, Forests, fields, Lakes, grass and Sand in Wuliang Suhai Watershed" assisted by Academician Workstation of the College was approved as the third batch of national pilot project of "Ecological Protection and Restoration of Mountains, Rivers, Forests, fields, Lakes, grass and Sand", with funding of RMB 5.078 billion.

Since the promotion, the teachers have undertaken 922 scientific research projects, including 12 at the national level and 374 at the provincial and ministerial levels. Published 2,904 papers; 210 software Copyrights and patents were approved, and 272 monographs were published. 9 municipal and above scientific research awards; Registered three national fruit bank achievements of "Sunflower seedling cultivation and transplanting", "tomato source bank regulation for processing" and "Humic acid research and development and promotion"; A new crop variety of Henuo 101 was selected. Hosted the Mongolian and Chinese internal publication Hetao College Forum.

Cultural inheritance: In terms of the research and inheritance of Hetao culture, teachers of the school have been approved to conduct 42 research projects on Hetao culture, write 3 monographs and publish 68 papers. In terms of research and inheritance of Urat culture, it has set up 5 research bases, including the Urat Culture Research Center and the Urat Mongolian Traditional Handicraft Room. It has been approved 3 research projects at ministerial level or above, and published 12 works, among which Research on the Heroic Epic of Urat won the third prize of social science works of the Autonomous Region government. The group dance "Urat's Blessing" won the first prize of the fourth National College Students Art Exhibition in the Autonomous Region Group A and the National First prize.

Open Education: The College adheres to the road of multi-level open education. It has carried out inter-university cooperation with Beijing Normal University, Xiamen University, Ningxia University, Dalian University of Foreign Languages, Poland Reshuf University of Information Technology and Management and 15 universities in the autonomous region. It has signed school-enterprise cooperation agreements with more than ten units such as CP Group, further deepening the reform of application-oriented personnel training mode. Actively integrate into the "Belt and Road" construction, and carry out educational cooperation and exchanges with Mongolia.

Social services: The College takes serving the local economic construction and social development as its own responsibility, deeply promotes the cooperation between the university government and enterprises, actively integrates into the regional economic and social development strategy, and builds a talent training system with local characteristics and meeting local needs. Now a professional pattern of "four groups and one chain" has been basically formed in line with regional economic and social development, with a total of 203 industry-university-research cooperation units. In 2021, the Transformation Center of Modern Agricultural and Animal Husbandry Scientific and Technological Achievements of Hetao College was established and incorporated into Nonggao District of Bayannur City. Twelve "partner research group" agreements were officially signed with the New Rural Development Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Inner Mongolia Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, giving full play to their respective advantages to promote the transformation and upgrading of agriculture and animal husbandry industry in Bayannur City.
