Hengyang Normal University

Hengyang Normal University, an ordinary full-time public undergraduate university subordinated to Hunan Province and approved by the Ministry of Education of China, is located in Hengyang City, a national historical and cultural city and one of the excellent tourist cities in China. The university has advantageous geographic location and convenient transportation. It is only 5-minute-drive to the High-speed Railway Station and 20-minute-drive to the Nanyue Airport. The campus enjoys an exquisite and beautiful environment, which has been rewarded prizes of "A Model Environmental Sanitation Institution of Hunan Province" and "The Hunan Provincial Garden Institution".  

HYNU now has eastern and western campuses, with the total area of 2200 hectares. There are 18 colleges, 56 undergraduate specialties covering the nine disciplines: liberal arts, history, science, engineering, economics, management, law, education and arts. The university has an enrollment of about 20, 000 regular full-time students, more than 90 national, provincial, municipal or school level innovation bases, research centers and laboratories with the faculty undertaking  more than 420 research projects, including those with grants from China’s Natural and Social Science Foundation. The university is a member unit of Association of Universities (Colleges) of Applied Science. 

HYNU has been strengthening the cultivation of teaching stuff, which has achieved notable results. There are more than 820 full-time teachers, including 138 professors, 158 teachers have Ph.D. degree, including more than 80 Ph.D. candidates. According to the news release from Hunan People’s Government , HYNU is ranked No. 12 of academic level of university teachers in Hunan Province in 2015, steadily occupying No. 1 among the universities of the same level in Hunan Province. HYNU has established a very good cooperative relationship with more than 10 higher learning institutions in the USA, the UK, Korea and Hong Kong and Taiwan regions. In recent 5 years, the university has obtained more than 30 projects like the State Foundation for Studying Abroad as Visiting Scholars, Hunan Provincial Overseas Experts and Hunan Provincial Introduction of Overseas Intelligence. More than 190 teachers have studied and trained in universities abroad, more than 200 students have participated in programs like international exchanges, Summer Work & Travel in USA, Chinese teacher volunteers and so on. And more than 100 university teachers and students abroad have come to visit and exchange.

Hengyang Normal University actively carries out international academic exchanges and cooperation in running schools, and has recruited many foreign students. It has established exchanges and cooperation relationships with 30 universities in 13 countries and regions including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. It has recruited many batches of foreign students and is a language student training unit for countries along the "Belt and Road" in Hunan Province. In recent years, 47 China Scholarship Fund projects have been obtained. 48 foreign experts have been hired, and many foreign teachers have won the "National Friendship Award", "Xiaoxiang Friendship Award", "Hengyue Friendship Award" and other honors.
