

Heilongjiang University Of Chinese Medicine was founded in 1954. After more than 60 years' construction and development, it has become a higher school of traditional Chinese medicine with a high level of teaching, scientific research and medical treatment, and has a certain influence at home and abroad. In 2004, the school won the first excellent conclusion of undergraduate teaching evaluation of the Ministry of Education in China. In 2007, it was the first unit in China to pass the undergraduate Chinese medicine professional certification of the Ministry of Education. In 2008, it was identified as the construction unit of the national clinical research base of Chinese medicine. In 2015, it was promoted to the national civilized unit. In the same year, it won the title of 50 universities with typical experience in graduate employment in China, and in 2016, it was approved as the national Chinese medicine culture publicity and education base. In 2018, it was approved as a "high-level university and a university with advantageous and characteristic disciplines" in Heilongjiang Province, and in 2020, it was approved as a national construction project of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine treatment base for major epidemic situations.
The University consists of 16 colleges, 14 affiliated hospitals (4 directly affiliated), 1 Chinese medicine research institute, 1 Chinese medicine higher education research institute, 26 teaching hospitals and 70 practice bases. There are 25 undergraduate majors, covering 5 disciplines including medicine, science, engineering, management and law. There are 4 first-class disciplines with the right to confer doctoral degrees and 31 in two disciplines; There are 5 first-class disciplines with the right to grant master's degrees and 37 in two disciplines; There is one authorized point for doctor's degree and four authorized points for master's degree. The University has four post-doctoral research stations of Chinese medicine, Chinese pharmacy, integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine and pharmacy, and is the construction site of the first national specialty (Chinese pharmacy, pharmaceutical preparation and acupuncture and massage) and the first batch of second specialty (Chinese medicine). The innovative experimental area of Chinese medicine talents training mode is the first batch of innovative experimental areas of talents training mode of the Ministry of Education, and the innovative experimental area of Chinese medicine clinical talents training mode is the innovative experimental area of talents training mode of Heilongjiang Province. The dissertations written by doctors trained by the school won the "National Excellent Doctoral Dissertations" by the Academic Degrees Committee of the Ministry of Education and the State Council in 2008 and 2012 respectively. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment in the school is 476 million yuan, and there are a number of large-scale precision instruments and equipment such as superconducting nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer and ultra-high resolution mass spectrometer. The University has the only drug safety evaluation center in the three northeastern provinces, and established the GAP research center of Chinese herbal medicines in Heilongjiang province, which is now the lead unit of the provincial pharmaceutical industry school-enterprise cooperation professional committee. The "North China Medicine Park" project, which is planned and built with Qinghe Chinese herbal medicine seed and seedling breeding base as the core, was successfully approved as the first national Chinese medicine health tourism demonstration base. For two consecutive terms, the school has been appointed as the chairman unit of the Teaching Steering Committee of Chinese Medicine Specialty in higher education institutions of the Ministry of Education, and has become the only provincial undergraduate university in the province to be appointed as the chairman unit of the Teaching Committee. The University is qualified to receive foreign students and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. It is one of the first universities approved by the Ministry of Education to recruit international students from China. It has cooperated and exchanged education, medical care and science and technology with more than 40 medical colleges or research institutions in more than 30 countries and regions around the world. At present, the school has 140 long-term international cooperation projects, accepted more than 500 foreign visiting scholars and trained more than 5,000 foreign students and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The world's first Confucius Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine, co-founded by the school with South Bank University of London and Harbin Normal University, has been rated as "Advanced Confucius Institute" by the Ministry of Education and Hanban for five consecutive years, and has become the first batch of "Model Confucius Institutes" in the world.
The University founded the Longjiang Forum on Traditional Chinese Medicine, hosted many large-scale international academic conferences, held the 16th China-Russia Biomedical Forum in succession with Russia's Amur State Medical College, and jointly initiated the establishment of the China-Russia Alliance for Innovation and Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine, set up the China-Russia Institute of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, jointly applied for international cooperation projects, and made every effort to build China-Russia discipline of integrated Chinese and Western medicine into a world-class discipline. The school cooperated with the University of Adelaide in Australia to establish the world's first traditional medicine research institute; Established Heilongjiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine American Branch in cooperation with American Chinese Medicine Association Chamber of Commerce, and became the first institution in the world to offer bachelor's degree courses in Chinese medicine overseas. The school has also been identified as the construction unit of "China-Central and Eastern European Chinese Medicine Center", a Chinese-Hungarian government project. Liu Yandong, former vice premier of the State Council, attended a series of Chinese-Hungarian Chinese medicine education cooperation activities held at Weiss University in Semel, and laid the foundation for the teaching building of the Chinese medicine center.
