Heilongjiang Forestry Vocational and Technical College is a public, full-time, general higher vocational college approved by the Heilongjiang Provincial Government and recorded by the Ministry of Education, and is open to the whole country. The college is located in the beautiful city of Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang Province, with more than 7,000 students in school.

The college was founded in 1958 and was promoted to a higher vocational college in 2001 by merging the former Mudanjiang Forestry School, Mudanjiang Forestry Teacher Training School, Mudanjiang Forestry Cadre School, Tokyo Forestry Mechanical and Electrical School and Mudanjiang Forestry Technical School. The college covers an area of 50 million square meters, of which the campus covers an area of 364,000 square meters, with a construction area of 179,500 square meters. The campus has an elegant environment and is known as the "First Garden of Danjiang". The college has three campuses, with seven secondary colleges: College of Ecological Engineering, College of Home Economics and Management, College of Urban Construction, College of Information Engineering, College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, College of Humanities, and ten teaching departments: Department of Ideological and Political Theory, Department of Physical Education and Research, and Department of Training, which is a higher vocational institution with distinctive characteristics of forestry education, including forestry, engineering, management, mechanical and electrical, finance and economics, and humanities education. The college has been awarded the National Advanced Unit of Vocational Education. The college has been awarded the honorary titles of National Advanced Unit of Vocational Education, Provincial Civilized Unit Pioneer and Provincial May Day Labor Certificate, etc. It is an "excellent" institution in the evaluation of talent training level by the Ministry of Education and a model higher vocational institution in Heilongjiang Province. It is also the national training base for highly skilled personnel and the training base for the 45th World Skills Competition China (woodworking).

The college now offers 43 majors, of which three majors, namely furniture design and manufacturing, photogrammetry and remote sensing technology and electrical automation technology, are the second batch of modern apprenticeship pilot majors in the country and the first batch of modern apprenticeship pilot majors in the province; five professional groups, namely furniture design and manufacturing, forestry technology, surveying and mapping, finance and economics and automobile, are the key professional groups for the construction of high-level institutions. The major of furniture design and manufacturing is the high-level backbone construction major of Heilongjiang Province. The College has participated in the construction of the national professional teaching resource library and the formulation of the national group standard for authentic medicinal herbs, and has five large-scale online open courses and one national high-quality resource sharing course.

The college is committed to building a high level "double teacher" structure professional teaching team, the existing full-time teachers 326, including 53 professors; doctoral, master's and degree teachers 145; "double teacher" quality teachers 222; provincial teaching master 5. The teaching team of furniture design and manufacturing and garden floriculture technology is a provincial excellent teaching team.

The college insists on collaborative education between schools and enterprises and deeply promotes the integration of industry and education. It is the chairman unit of Heilongjiang Forestry Vocational Education Group, a participant unit in the group standard of national forest eco-labeling products, and the vice-chairman unit of National Light Industry and Household Vocational Education Group. The College has established long-term and stable cooperative relationships with 168 large and medium-sized enterprises in China, of which more than 100 enterprises have become the College's "Engineering Combination" on-the-job practice base. The College has built an "open and shared" practical teaching base on campus, with 4 national training bases, 5 provincial training bases, 108 modern training rooms and 34 integrated classrooms with advanced facilities. It also has a food inspection and testing centre, a technology centre for the Moringa drones and a workshop for digital board furniture production lines. The College has 18 members of the National Steering Committee of various industries, 5 members of the National Forestry Science and Technology Specialists, 32 members of the China Longjiang Forest Industry Group Co. In the 44th and 45th World Skills Competition, the College was the head of the Chinese expert group for woodworking.

The college focuses on improving the comprehensive quality and professional skills of students, implements the "Moral Education Innovation Project", runs the |Teaching Virtue Lecture Hall, opens the "Experimental Class of Virtue Training Innovation", and builds up the "Big Thinking and Politics The "Big Thinking and Administration" work pattern has been established. At the same time, the college explored the "multi-skilled" talent training model and actively cultivated students' vocational and innovative abilities. The college relies on "Heilongjiang Linzhiyuan High-Tech Entrepreneurial Service Co. In 2018 alone, students participated in 62 competitions at provincial level and above, winning one second prize and three third prizes at national level, 13 first prizes, 23 second prizes and 28 third prizes at provincial level. Two students from the "Luban Craftsmanship Class" were selected to be part of the national training team for the 45th World Skills Competition and were awarded the title of "National Skilled Worker". Xu Yan, a student of the College, won the winning prize in the 44th WorldSkills Competition. In 2019, CCTV news channel reported on the College under the title of "Little Luban on the World Stage".

The employment rate and employment quality of graduates have always ranked among the top among the higher vocational high schools in the province, and a good situation of smooth export and prosperous import has been formed.
