Hebei Vocational University of Technology and Engineering is a full-time undergraduate university with a major in engineering, and is a pilot school of undergraduate vocational education established by the state in the new era. The school's predecessor, Xingtai Agricultural Machinery School, was founded in 1979 under the Ministry of Agricultural Machinery, renamed Xingtai Mechanical Industry School of the Ministry of Machinery Industry in 1982, and renamed as the Chinese People's Liberation Army Munitions Industry School in 1983 under the General Logistics Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and was approved by the former State Education Commission in 1991 to establish Xingtai Higher Vocational and Technical School based on the Munitions Industry School to carry out In 1994, the school was renamed as Chinese People's Liberation Army Munitions Industry College, and in 1997, the Ministry of Education approved the school to be renamed as Xingtai Vocational and Technical College, and in the same year, the General Logistics Department approved the school to be renamed as Chinese People's Liberation Army Munitions Industry College. 2002 In 2002, the school was transferred from the General Logistics Department to Hebei Province and became a provincial university. In 2021, the Ministry of Education approved the merger and transfer of Xingtai Vocational and Technical College and North China Electric Power University College of Science and Technology to establish Hebei University of Science, Technology and Engineering Vocational Technology.

The university established the first overseas internship base for college students and overseas teacher training base in Hebei Province at Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences, which continues to play a leading role in Sino-German vocational education cooperation. The university cooperated with Thailand to establish the Sino-Thai Language and Technology Center, set up the "Shoujing Workshop" to promote overseas education, and successfully held three rounds of "Advanced Training Course for Teachers of Vocational Education in Thailand", becoming the first university in Hebei Province to provide vocational education for countries along the "Belt and Road" in China.
