Hebei University of Technology

The predecessor of Hebei University of Technology is called the Beiyang technology school established in 1903, which is the earliest university in China to cultivate industrial talents, and it founded the earliest university run factory in China. The University ranked among the first batch of key universities under the national "Project 211" in 1996. In 2014, it was jointly built by Hebei Province, Tianjin and the Ministry of education. In 2017, it was selected as a national "double first-class" University. In recent years, three disciplines - materials science, chemistry and engineering - have been ranked in the top 1% of the global ESI rankings and have been moving forward. In 2020, the university was awarded the "National Civilised Campus".

The university has 21 teaching institutions and 62 undergraduate majors, including 30 national first-class undergraduate major construction, covering seven disciplines of engineering, science, economics, management, arts, law and fine arts. It has 1 nation "world-class discipline", 2 national key disciplines, 3 World-class Discipline Construction Projects in Hebei Province, 4 National-class Discipline Construction Projects in Hebei Province, 7 key disciplines in Tianjin. It has 10 post-doctoral research stations, 11 first-level doctoral degree authorization, 26 first-level master's degree authorization, 17 professional degree categories and 28 professional degree master's authorization fields. There are more than 23,000 full-time undergraduate students and 7,500 postgraduate students.

The university vigorously implements the project of strengthening the university with talents and constantly improves the mechanism of introducing and training high-level talents. The university has more than 2,700 teaching staff, including more than 1,600 full-time teachers. 

In recent years, around the major national strategic needs of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei synergistic development and regional industrial transformation and upgrading development needs, the university relies on the platform jointly built by province and municipality and ministries, establish the "landing high" scientific research ideas, and gather regional resources. The university has built 54 national and provincial research platforms, including provincial and ministerial state key laboratories, national engineering technology research centres and national joint local engineering laboratories. The university has been awarded the second prize of the National Natural Science Award, the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the Hou Debang Chemical Science and Technology Achievement Award and the Hebei Provincial Science and Technology Outstanding Contribution Award. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the university hosted 21 major national key projects and more than 400 national natural science funds projects, granted more than 2,700 patents, and was approved as one of the first national pilot universities for intellectual property rights, ranking 70th among the top 100 universities in China for patents. The first "Yuanguang" small satellite was successfully flown by the Long March 8 launch vehicle and operated in orbit. The high-performance robot haptic sensing intelligence system was selected as one of the pioneering technologies in the "Science and Technology China" list in 2020. The university has spent 300 million yuan on science and technology annually, and more than 100 scientific research achievements have won national and provincial awards, making it the most awarded university in Hebei Province for outstanding contributions to science and technology, and one of the top ten outstanding invention and creation units in Hebei Province.

The university focuses on international exchange and cooperation, and has formed a new pattern of international cooperation in all aspects, multiple levels and broad fields. At present, the university has signed cooperation agreements with more than 60 foreign universities, covering all levels from undergraduate to doctoral in cooperation training. The university has also established the “Finland Campus” with LUT University in Lappeenranta, Finland, and the “Arizona College of Technology” with the world-renowned University of Arizona, USA. Currently, there are nearly 1,000 students in Sino-foreign cooperative programmes and more than 290 international students at HEBUT.

At present, the joint construction of the provincial and municipal and ministries has built a new development platform for the university, and the national "double first-class" construction has enabled the university to enter a "new era" and embark on a new journey. The university has made remarkable achievements in various aspects such as discipline construction, talent training, faculty building, teaching and research.     The university has signed cooperation agreements with all the districts and cities in The province and most of the sub-districts of Tianjin, and built a collaborative innovation system dominated by provincial and university collaborative innovation centers and industrial Technology Research institutes, and built 12 local industrial technology research institutes. It has been approved as a national base for international science and technology cooperation, a National Demonstration base for the training of innovative talents and a national base for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and technology transfer in colleges and universities. Nine sub-centers of national technology transfer centers have been established. Beijing-tianjin-hebei Development Research Center was ranked among the top 25 university think tanks in China Think Tank Index (CTTI). With sinopec, Northern General Power Group, Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd. and other more than 100 large enterprise groups to establish stable cooperative relations, more than 1500 scientific and technological achievements in hundreds of enterprises and institutions in the application or industrialization, creating economic benefits of more than 10 billion yuan. National university science park as accredited by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education jointly "the national first batch of university students' entrepreneurship practice base of science and technology" and the communist youth league "youth employment entrepreneurship apprentice base" of the central government in shijiazhuang, xingtai, cangzhou, hebei province, handan and baoding and tianjin and other places have built or under construction in the science and technology park, form the distinctive characteristics of "more than a garden area".

    The school attaches great importance to the connotation development, quality improvement and brand building of international exchange and cooperation, constantly improves the working mechanism of international exchange and cooperation, strengthens the efforts of teachers' international exchange and wisdom introduction, and constantly improves the scale and level of international exchange and cooperation, forming a new pattern of all-round, multi-level and wide field international cooperation in running schools. At present, the university has signed cooperative education agreements with more than 60 foreign universities and colleges. The cooperative education programs cover all levels of undergraduate and doctoral education, and have been extended to the United States, France, Britain, Germany, New Zealand, Sweden and other countries. In Finland, Hebei University of Technology and Lappeenranta University of Technology jointly set up "Hebei University of Technology Finland Campus", becoming the forerunner for Chinese universities to establish overseas undergraduate campuses in developed countries. Arizona Institute of Technology, Hebei University of Technology, has been jointly established with the world-renowned University of Arizona, becoming the first chinese-foreign cooperative educational institution in northern China to cooperate with top 100 universities in the world. In 2012, THE university was granted the qualification for enrolling Overseas students with Government Scholarship from China Scholarship Council, in 2014, the university was granted the qualification for independently enrolling overseas students, in 2015, the University was granted the "International Cooperative Training Program for Innovative Talents" from China Scholarship Council, and in 2020, the University was granted the qualification for undergraduate students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and the approval right for foreign affairs visits and visits. The intelligent Construction International Joint Research Center of Hebei province jointly built with Swinburne University of Technology in Australia was approved as the 2020 International Science and Technology Cooperation base of Hebei Province. Three foreign experts won the Yanzhao Friendship Award. At present, there are nearly 1,000 students and more than 300 international students in sino-foreign cooperative programs.

    The school has carried out in-depth international exchanges and cooperation, and signed a cooperation agreement with the Austrian Virtual Reality Visual Computing Research Center to build the Virtual Reality Visual Computing Research Institute. The Institute was awarded the title of liaison for the "Belt and Road Sustainable City Service Network" by the United Nations. He joined the Power Electronics Research Alliance of Ohio State University and established the Sino-US Joint High Performance Power Electronics Research Center. The joint research Center of RADIO Frequency Technology of Hebei University of Technology and American Technology Company was established together with American Technology Company. The joint research Center of 3D Printed Concrete was established with Swinburne University of Technology. The nanyang Hebei Science and Technology Research Center has signed an agreement with Hebei Foreign Special Administration Bureau, Tangshan National High-tech Industrial Development Zone Management Committee and Singapore-China Association for The Promotion of Science and Technology.
