    Hebei Institute of Environmental Engineering is located in Beidaihe District, Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, a summer resort with pleasant climate and beautiful environment. The predecessor of the school, China Environmental Management Cadre College, is known as the "Huangpu Military Academy" of the environmental protection system and the "Green Cradle" of environmental protection talents in society. The school was founded in 1981 and is one of the earliest universities in China to carry out ecological environment education. It is currently the only application-oriented undergraduate institution in the country that focuses on ecological environment education. It is also one of the second batch of ordinary undergraduate universities in Hebei Province to transform and develop into applied technology universities. Professor Qu Geping, the former director of the Environmental Protection and Assets Supervision Committee of the National People's Congress, and Mr. Xie Zhenhua, the former special envoy for China's climate change affairs and deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission, served as the president successively. For 43 years since its establishment, the school has played an important role in various historical stages of the development of China's ecological environment protection cause, and its educational history has witnessed the development process of China's ecological environment protection cause.

    Hebei Institute of Environmental Engineering currently has nearly 10000 full-time undergraduate and junior college students. There are 11 teaching units including the Department of Environmental Science, the Department of Environmental Engineering, the Department of Ecology, the Department of Environmental Art, the Department of Information Engineering, the Department of Economics and Management, the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Department of Physical Education, the School of Marxism, the Department of Fundamentals, and the Department of Continuing Education. The school focuses on the goal of building a "Beautiful Hebei" and constructs three major academic clusters with "Environmental Science and Engineering" as the backbone, "Environmental Protection Support" and "Environmental Humanities and Arts" as the support. Adhering to a demand-oriented approach, we have integrated and constructed 10 professional clusters, including "Environmental Management, Environmental Pollution Control, Ecological Protection and Restoration," with the industrial chain or related links as the main line. This reflects the interdisciplinary and professional structure and layout of the school's ecological environment education, which features cross integration and development. There are 25 undergraduate majors including environmental science, environmental engineering, and environmental ecological engineering, forming a layout with engineering as the main focus and coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as science, agriculture, management, art, literature, and education. There are currently 6 provincial-level first-class undergraduate majors, 1 provincial-level first-class undergraduate major construction site, 1 provincial-level applied transformation demonstration major, 1 provincial-level modern industry college, 16 provincial-level first-class undergraduate courses, 6 provincial-level course ideological and political demonstration courses, and 1 provincial-level course ideological and political teaching research demonstration center; Obtained 6 teaching achievement awards in Hebei Province, approved 73 provincial-level teaching and research projects such as the Provincial Higher Education Reform Research and Practice Project, the "Provincial Four New" Special Teaching and Research Project, and the Provincial English Teaching Reform Research Special Project, and established 84 projects for collaborative education between industry and academia under the Ministry of Education. In talent cultivation, explore the construction of an ecological civilization education system with "four course linkage, diverse collaboration, and immersive cultivation". Incorporate environmental education into the entire process of talent cultivation, cultivate applied talents with outstanding ecological civilization quality, solid professional foundation, innovative spirit and practical ability, and comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor skills.

    The institute currently has over 660 faculty members, including more than 440 full-time teachers and over 160 teachers with senior professional titles. About 95% of full-time teachers have a master's degree or above, and about 47% are dual qualified teachers. Among the teachers, there is one young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions in Hebei Province, 12 "three three three" level talents in Hebei Province, 5 provincial excellent teaching teams, and 46 provincial and municipal model worker, famous teachers, outstanding teachers, outstanding educators, and teachers' moral pacesetters.

     The institute covers a total area of 725 acres, with a total planned building area of 215000 square meters. 168000 square meters have been completed and put into use, and the teaching and administrative building area is 102800 square meters. The total value of existing teaching instruments and equipment is over 96 million yuan, and there are more than 890000 paper books. There are 107 experimental training rooms, 8 industrial colleges, and 100 off campus practical teaching bases.

Under the strong leadership of the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial Government, and Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Hebei Institute of Environmental Engineering has steadfastly served the cause of ecological environment protection and local economic development, forming a distinct characteristic of ecological environment education. It has achieved excellent results in environmental protection system job training, environmental professional adult education, and general higher education. The school is one of the five environmental protection training bases of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment in China. More than 6000 directors of local (city) and county-level environmental protection bureaus have received job training at the school, and more than 30000 environmental protection in-service cadres have received continuing education at the school; Accumulatively trained over 30000 undergraduate and vocational graduates for the society, with a consistently high employment rate of over 90%. Graduates have gained widespread recognition from employers and high media attention for their "high level of professionalism, excellent business skills, strong sense of responsibility, and good teamwork spirit". Since the promotion, the teacher has led 333 national and provincial level research projects, won 2 provincial and ministerial level research achievement awards, published 345 papers in core journals, SCI, and EI, published 52 academic monographs and textbooks, obtained 95 patents, and completed 222 consulting reports. Since the 11th Five Year Plan, 15 textbooks have been included in the national planning textbooks, and "Environmental Economics" has been rated as the "2008 Excellent Textbook for General Higher Education". The school currently has five provincial-level scientific research platforms, including the "Hebei Province Key Laboratory of Agricultural Ecological Security", "Hebei Province Engineering Research Center for Ecological Restoration of River Flows and Coastal Areas", "Hebei Province Key Laboratory for River Water Purification and Ecological Restoration", "Hebei Branch of the Ministry of Education Engineering Research Center for Agricultural Microbiology Technology", and "Hebei Province Key Research Base for Humanities and Social Sciences - Ecological Civilization Thought and Practice Research Center". It also has two provincial-level science popularization platforms, including the "Hebei Province Education Base for Classification, Treatment and Resource Utilization of Domestic Waste" and the "Qugeping Environmental Culture Museum - Hebei Province Ecological Civilization Science Popularization Demonstration Base". The winning bid for the Qinhuangdao City Water Quality Assurance Expert Service Team project provides intellectual support for ensuring the water quality of 13 rivers in Qinhuangdao City and meeting the standards for rivers and seawater entering the sea. The project "Rapid Treatment and Greening Mode of Low Plain Gangue Mountains and Engineering Application" has been rated as an international advanced level by the China Coal Industry Association and won the second prize for annual scientific and technological progress.
