Hebei Normal University is a key provincial university jointly established by the People's Government of Hebei Province and the Ministry of Education, and a first-class university under the "double first-class" construction in Hebei Province. In June 1996, the former Hebei Normal University and Hebei Normal College were merged with the Hebei College of Education, which was founded in 1952, and the Hebei Vocational and Technical Teachers' College, which was founded in 1984, to form the new Hebei Normal University. In 2011, the university moved to a new campus. The new campus covers an area of 1829 mu, with a library of 3.18 million books and 67 Chinese and foreign language databases. The university has 2,699 teaching staff, including 1,797 full-time teachers. The university is a recipient of the Chinese Government Scholarship and the International Chinese Teachers' Scholarship, and every year, more than 600 international students from more than 40 countries and five continents study in our university for undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees, as well as long and short-term Chinese language education. We have established two Confucius Institutes, one Confucius Classroom, one Portuguese-Chinese bilingual high school, one overseas college and two overseas preparatory colleges, and have sent volunteer Chinese language teachers to more than 20 countries to actively participate in the international promotion of the Chinese language. The university has also established the Peru Research Centre, the Indonesian Research Centre, the Russian Research Centre, the Pakistan Research Centre and the New Zealand Research Centre to build a regional research platform.
