Hebei Foreign Studies University（HFSU), as the only independent undergraduate international language university in Hebei Province, has developed into a comprehensive and international undergraduate university with 28 secondary colleges (15 national education-oriented colleges, 13 society-oriented colleges), more than 21,000 students, 1,358 faculty and staff, 7 foreign academicians, 210 foreign experts, offering 75 foreign languages, and 136 majors.

At present, HFSU has cooperated with 359 universities in 82 countries worldwide at the Bachelor, Master and Doctorial levels. We have signed bilateral agreements with partner institutions and universities from countries from all over the world, including the United States, Britain, Germany, France, Russia, Spain, Portugal, Japan, 22 major countries in Latin America, including Cuba, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Dominica, Panama, etc. The cooperation has been focused on but not limited to the design of the significant and curriculum course construction, student exchange and further studies, mutual visits of teaching staff, school-enterprise cooperation, scientific research project cooperation, cooperation in publishing, and introducing high-end talents.

With offering 75 languages spoken across pivotal countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceania, North, and South America, in terms of the number of offered foreign languages, HFSU ranks second among all universities in the country. Within ten fields of study, namely media, computer, finance, architecture, business and trade, education, medical care, traffic and tourism, art performance, and foreign literature, in total 136 majors are offered.

HFSU took the lead in establishing the first "Academic Workstation" among private colleges and universities in the PRC, successively introduced seven academicians, among which are Academician Ramagoshi from South Africa, Academician Perez from Cuba, Academician Pablo from Columbia, world young scientist Yaile, and international Artificial Intelligence scientist Rafael. Among private colleges and universities in the PRC on both levels of academician and academician station HFSU has achieved the most remarkable breakthrough.   

HFSU is placed among national 5A-level private colleges and universities and is one of the 26 private universities supported by the Ministry of Education. It is a foreign language talent supply base for national aid to Africa, one of the 10 applied key undergraduate pilot universities approved by the People's Government of Hebei Province, a reform demonstration school of deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in Hebei Province, a postdoctoral innovation practice base in Hebei Province, a national language talent training base along the "Belt and Road Initiative" in Hebei province, and a training base for small language volunteer interpreters in Hebei Provincial People's Government. It is awarded by the Provincial Government of Hebei Province as one of the top ten units for introducing high talent in Hebei Province. It is the training base for foreign-language volunteers for the 2022 Beijing-Zhangjiakou Winter Olympic Games. HFSU has been rated as a "private university with social influence in China" and a "typical university with social influence in China" by state-level media Xinhua News agency and Xinhua website for three consecutive years.

Rector Sun Jianzhong, the founder of HFSU, is a "Member of the Librarian of Cultural and History Research Museum of Hebei Provincial People's Government ", a special researcher of the Consultative Office of the People's Government of Hebei Province, and has been awarded the "Outstanding Person in Social Impact Education", "Provincial First of May Labor Medal", "The Charity Star of Hebei Province”, “National First of May Labor Medal", and other honorary titles.

Continuously, HFSU has adhered to govern itself in accordance with law, public interest, standardization and science, and the problem orientation of "who to train, how to train, and for whom to train". It has given full play to the six functions of the university—personnel training, scientific research, social services, cultural transmission and innovation, international exchange, and innovation and entrepreneurship, and has formed its own distinctive practices that is affirmed by superior departments, graduates, parents of students, employers, and all sectors of the society.

Currently, HFSU has 28 secondary colleges, including 15 teaching-oriented colleges: English Language College, College of Spanish, Italian and Portuguese Language, College of German and French Language, Eurasian Languages College, Oriental Language College, Japanese Language College, College of International Language Education, College of International Finance, Computer College, College of Foreign-related Architectural Engineering, International Business School, International Medical School, College of Aviation and Tourism, Music College, College of Media. There are 13 society-oriented universities and institutes: School of Administration, Hebei International University for the Aged, Hebei Military University, Hebei Craftsman Institute, International Institute for Foreign Students, International Preparatory College, College of Social Sciences, International Exchange and Cooperation Institute, Institute for Vocational Education, College of Continuing Education, Innovation and Entrepreneurship College, Foreign Academician Workstation, and Research Institute One Belt, One Road.

Focus on gathering talents from all over the world and build an international high-quality teaching staff.

General secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that we should "gather talents from both the party and the outside world, all the domestic and overseas talents into the great struggle of the party and the people," and "gather the talents of the world". Under the guidance of General Secretary Xi, HFSU has been exploring the ways of recognizing, loving, educating, and using talents. With the goal of "master oriented, doctor as the banner, professor as the professional leader and academician as the research leader", and with the platform of "academician workstation", the university strives to build HFSU into a talent highland gathering the world's elite. The university not only employs 7 foreign academicians, but also 689 teachers with master's degree or above, 197 professional teachers with years of overseas study experience, 210 foreign experts, and 64 foreign experts as international cooperation specialists. These high-end foreign experts bring advanced education, teaching, management concepts and high-quality education resources, and help our university to move forward to a high-level international university.

At present, with a total of more than 70,000 participants, our school has participated in 258 large-scale collective translation volunteer activities,  including, Beijing Olympic Games, Shanghai World Expo, The 12th consecutive China Wuqiao Acrobatic Festival, China Stone Fair, Hengshui Lake International Marathon, Beijing Tianjin Hebei Industrial Transfer Series Docking Activities, just to mention but a few.

The university’s library possesses 1.2 million books, 263 types of Chinese and foreign periodicals, and more than 1.2 million types of Chinese and foreign e-books, which are introduced into the CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure). Teachers and students can access the resources at any time through the campus wired or wireless network on campus. Classes are given in multimedia classrooms, classes are infrared voice rooms. It has 20 digital audio-visual rooms, 1,300 microcomputers, while campus TV stations can receive and broadcast foreign language TV programs in various languages at the same time. As first set up in the PRC by our school, each language has its own language situational teaching and training room. Each major has its own specialized teaching and training room.

The university's project "Dragon and Phoenix Plan Post", through the "Western Point" military management, enables 100% of students to be trained on organizational skills and cadres’ abilities in the school.

The average employment rate of the 14th graduates of the school is 98.54%. The majors whose employment rate reaches 100% account for 96.5% of the total majors, and the counterpart employment rate reaches 76.62%. More than 50000 graduates are distributed in 126 cities in 26 provinces. There are 4316 graduates who have entered the world's top 500 and China's top 500 universities respectively, 2015 students are studying abroad, 1197 are employed abroad, 103 employed countries, among which 19 have served as accompanying translators for the heads of state at home and abroad. Among the graduates, 15,846 have a salary of 60,000-100,000 CNY, 13,453 have a salary of over 100,000 CNY, and 270 have an annual salary of over 450,000 CNY. The employment of graduates shows the phenomenon of "four plus" what means that with more students studying abroad, more employed abroad, more foreign enterprises enter the market, wages are increased. There are nearly 20,000 graduates in 91 countries accros the world, including all countries in Africa, 2/3 of countries in South America and 1 /3 of countries in the Middle East. In Hebei, across the country, and in many parts of the world, we can see the active figures of our graduates. They are becoming a living force to promote the socialist construction of the motherland and promote international exchanges and human progress.

Hebei University-Enterprise Cooperation Association for Promotion of Employment, initiated by our university, has 471 member units. The association has signed cooperation agreements with 41 chambers of commerce directly under the Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce, and the school has conducted in-depth cooperation with chambers of commerce and member units in order to provide training, post internship practice, joint construction of professional projects, development and utilization of scientific research achievements, students’ employment, etc. For example, it has already cooperated with China Road and Bridge, China Nuclear Industry (English), Hebei Construction Engineering Group, Sinohydro (Spanish, project cost), Gezhouba Angola Co., Ltd., Sichuan Railway International, China Railway 20th Bureau (Italian, Portuguese), CNPC, China Railway 7th Bureau (French), Shenyang BMW, Hebei Deya Business (German), The First Affiliated Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, The First Hospital of Shijiazhuang (Nursing), Jinma Film and Television (photography, television program production), Hebei Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources (engineering survey and supervision, construction engineering technology), Hebei Taihang State Hotel, China Hotel (foreign-related hotel management), Hebei Maya Film and Television (animation production Technology), Hebei Huahengxin Communication (computer network technology), Hebei Yuanda Securities, China Construction Bank, Guangfa Securities, Industrial Bank (accounting, finance and securities) and other companies carried out targeted training.

In order to facilitate the innovation and entrepreneurship of college students, the university built the "Incubation Park for Students’ Entrepreneurship of Hebei International Studies University", which has gathered 17 enterprises. The university also invests 1 million CNY every year to set up a special venture fund to support students to start their own businesses. In order to increase the rate of success of students who start their own businesses, the university invites successful entrepreneurs to visit the campus from time to time, impart entrepreneurial experience, and avoid entrepreneurial risks.

Every year, nearly 4,000 awardees at the university are awarded national scholarships. National scholarships are 8,000 CNY per person per year, national inspirational scholarships are 5,000 CNY per person per year, and national grants are 4,000, 3,000 and 2,000 CNY per person per year.
